camping shop and yet more gaming

Tim picked up a copy of Civilization III Complete (PC) while shopping, and the children spent some time trying to figure it out, unsuccessfully it has to be said. I think really it needs one of us to spend serious time with it, but neither of us has found the energy to do so yet.

Rest of the day was taken up with a trip out to a camping shop in Stowmarket (I’d link, but utterly bizarrely they don’t appear to have a website) to look at tents. I like looking at tents. We also got Big a new brownie T-shirt as hers has not reappeared following the move – her gilet has, but no top or trousers 🙁

Small rather fell in love with a spiderman buff but we didn’t buy at the time – he’s already had a hat and glasses bought this year, and I think he may have lost the glasses already.

Home and I had another webchat, am enjoying these as I then get £10 in amazon vouchers for them. Which is what funded the latest game buying spree 🙂

Oh, and somewhere in the day, Tim went to the doctors and came back with a prescription for nicotine patches and advice to go on a diet. Oh, how I laughed. I do like that doctor. Apparently he also told Tim that if I have any worries or fears to pop in and see him as he has one of those doppler things and we can check the heartbeat no problems. He said that when he and his wife were expecting they bought one to keep at home 🙂

Oh, and I almost forgot the bit where Big had come back from her Brownie fun run with scrappy bits of paper with two other girl’s phone numbers on. One had a note from a mother asking if we could arrange for Big to go round and play during half term and the other was the emergency piece of paper for similar reasons. I rang them both – am slightly floored by the local reaction to home ed, as instead of being looked at askance, we are getting – must be difficult to make local friends, would she like to come round and play. The answer in both cases is yes – and playdates were accordingly set up for half term work.
