Bumblejums Book and CD #100Books

We’re big on both books and the environment here, so an offer of a book about eco friendly characters to review via twitter went down well. Meet the Bumblejums gave a good first impression too. It’s bright and cheerful, although in some ways it has the look of a book accompanying a tv series if you know what I mean. Perhaps it’s just that the characters look like they would work on screen? I don’t know whether that was the hope with them, ought to have asked really!

There are 4 characters, each with names beginning with J. Each has some special power to help them in looking after the environment, and Small (age 7) quickly spotted a relationship to the 4 classical elements, fire, earth, air and water. I’d assume that’s intentional 😉 Gave rise to a good set of conversations with him, meaning that the book has a wider appeal than you might think at first.

The accompanying cd is pleasant listening – and not the sort of jangly high pitched stuff often aimed at small children. (I’m not a fan of jangly stuff, can you tell?) In fact, it felt a little folky, almost, although perhaps a little over orchestrated for that.

All in all, I think you could say that I quite enjoyed the Bumblejums offering, as did the children.

This is book 74.

The boring small print…If you don’t want to miss out on any of the news on the challenge, please sign up to my rss feed – there’s an email link over in the side, or you can sub with a reader. I’m also on twitter using the hashtag #100books and facebook.

If you want to donate, please feel free, there’s a link in the sidebar or you can use this one. If you’d like to join in with your own version of the challenge, please leave me a comment to let me know so that I can link to you. And also, the booklink above is an affiliate link, but it’s set up with its own tracking id, so anything bought via a 100 book challenge link is separate to those usually on my blog, and I’ll be donating that money through to Oxfam as well.

  1. I didn’t realise it was a book too, I read another review on it but thought it was just a CD. Shall really go and look into it now!
