Birthday number 2: Small is six.

Wow.

Given that this blog was started shortly before he was born, means I’ve missed my blogiversary as well. Never mind, I think that this has to be Small’s entry really 🙂

We started the day with presents, obviously. He got a HM Armed Forces RAF Falcons Parachutist, some additional action man clothes including red devil jumpsuits, Batman Collected (that Tim found in one of the charity shops in town, shh) and a Ben 10 Comic Maker Kit from Big. Oh and a Hedwig, handmade by me 🙂

He was very pleased with all the presents except Hedwig, who apparently isn’t quite right, even though I’ve spent further time titivating trying to improve the look. Sigh.

Then Tim took Big off for a playdate with another Brownie friend, and I took Small to the cinema to see Night at the Museum 2. Waiting through 30 minutes of (mainly) music and (a few) trailers nearly finished him off before the film got started, but once it was properly underway he was fine. He really enjoyed it, and I thought it was surprisingly good too, as I’m not a big Ben Stiller fan (can’t stand the guy usually). There was one part that scared him, but it passed over quickly and other than that he was fine.

Back home afterwards for lunch, where Auntie S had dropped off another present, the awesome Commander Nova’s Pop-up Alien Space Station.

He played with the comic maker for most of the afternoon, while asking with increasing frequency where Big was. Eventually we all walked down together to pick her up, meaning that he could have his strop in front of another family. Lovely.

Arranged with C’s mum to go swimming together the following morning – she was trying to arrange swimming lessons for C, who is at a very similar not quite swimming stage to Big. The girls had had a fabulous day together which of course explains why Big and Small fell out immediately we started walking home again.

Made the monumental mistake of explaining to Small what time he had been born at, so that I could talk to him about what I’d been doing at that time six years ago, but that meant he wasn’t actually 6 yet, and the anxiety levels went stratospheric instantly. Jolly good.

Was very glad to get home, feed them, get them clean and into bed!
