Beach hut is the way to go.

We finally met up with a local home educator, and by that I mean that there is someone else who home educates who lives within walking distance.

Wow. I’m not sure we’ve ever been in that situation before. Well, I suppose technically we could have walked to Kirsty’s from old house, but I wouldn’t have liked to do it with small children. Several miles and a very lovely hill in between (at least it would have been downhill on the way home!).

So we met up with her and her daughter and went to the beach. They have a beach hut – this is definitely the way to do it. Instead of having to carry everything you might want or having to just do without, you keep it all in your hut and just take perishables, excellent plan. Although given that they go for around £15,000 I don’t think we’ll be indulging any time soon.

Even a beach hut though doesn’t stop the wind, and in this case the wind was so excessive as to prevent the gas stove (in the hut) from boiling water. Not a huge problem, as I’m still finding tea less than appealing, but again, I’m thinking that overall hut and stove is a good combination.

The children thoroughly enjoyed being on the beach anyway, not at all put off by the wind blowing waves closer and closer to our feet, and C and I got to spend an hour or so getting acquainted. It all went well, and we’re hoping to do it again soon.

So jealous of your local home edder. We’re currently travelling about an hour to our nearest one.
Still, I will root them out!
A beach hut sounds fantastic. Is it blue and white striped?!
