BBC NEWS | Education | Bad parents ‘should be punished’

What with, lines??? Honestly, these ppl haven’t got a clue have they? Comments like – “Many families treated schools as a “glorified crèche” and failed to instil adequate social skills at home.” Um, when? Children are starting education as young as three, you can get vouchers. They are barely social beings before that, and they can’t learn from their parents if they aren’t with them. Even lone parents aren’t immune – there’s a special New Deal for them.

Something needs to change in this country.

  1. good old PAT again.

  2. I reckon they criticise other people so much to deflect negative attention from themselves. And to justify their existence. And just because they like doing it. And lots of other reasons too 🙂

  3. and yet I do know families who have used nurseries and schools full time and parent their children excellently, to be fair …

  4. I’m not denying that Sarah, although I think you are thinking of a minority there. It’s just annoying me that it’s always the parent’s fault – if you put them into nursery, if you don’t, nowhere along the line can any of the other adults involved with that child bear any responsibility for how it turns out at all….or that appears to be what is often said at these teacher union meeting type things.

  5. but I think it probably *is* always the parents’ fault! I know what you’re trying to say though (I think 😉 ).
