After another late night, Small seemed reluctant to get up this morning, but I dragged him out of bed anyway 😉 We had an appt to get to – the local branch of elc was having a teddy bears’ picnic and we were supposed to meet Sarah‘s dp and two kids there. We were running late (big surprise!), so I wasn’t overly surprised when they weren’t there when we arrived but there were still biscuits and juice, so dd was quite happy. They had some rather nice bargains in their sale too, dd was particularly thrilled with this (although I have to admit I did wonder why the woman in the pack is a farmer’s wife, and not just a farmer 😉 ) and I agonised over this musical toy for a while – we’re supposed to be cutting back, and it was still quite pricey. But I did get more compensation for my accident than expected, so spending a little bit on the children seemed reasonable.
On from elc via a couple of banks to pick up some info on business accounts, M&S for the obligatory toilet stop, wilco’s for a buggy cover and finally back to the car for the short trip to breastfeeding group. I don’t go there very often any more – I live out of the area it is actually funded for, and somehow I don’t feel welcomed (not unwelcome, just not welcomed iyswim) especially with Small being over a year now, and therefore I’m officially into being an extended breastfeeder apparently. I actually think that ppl in the second year need just as much support as those just starting out – maybe not with the practicalities of latching (although I think that there is room for some help there, with toddlers with teeth!) but certainly with moral support to bolster confidence to deal with the “are you still feeding him” kind of question. Anyway, it was nice to catch up with several ppl who have children of similar ages to Small, and it really does bring home to you how different each child is.
We did catch up with Sarah at the group, and after we’d fed the offspring (Small largely on Sarah’s strawberries it has to be said), we wandered off into the park. There’s quite a nice little playground – the bigger children ran about and climbed, slid and seesawed, while M wandered about and Small had a swing. Sarah and I managed to chat a little in between catching toddlers before they walked into swings and so on, and it was a thoroughly pleasant interlude.
On the way home called into Tesco’s and continued the money saving theme by buying lots of food on offer – think it was only the milk that was on standard price! Then home, and discovered that the musical toy is a big hit with both children, so I think is going to be well worth its money. Haven’t even tried the add on cartridge that I got with it yet!
And the headbanging? Well that’s Small. 🙁 He’s got a big red mark on his forehead where he keeps banging it on the wooden floor. You’d think it would hurt really, but it doesn’t seem to bother him unless you give him attention while he’s doing it. Still, rather unnerving.
Right, dd has been vegging with the tv for the last hour – it’s been rather a hectic day. So I’m off to read our other purchase Danny goes to the Dentist with her, in preparation for tomorrow’s trip to check out the greying front tooth. I have noticed that she is avoiding biting with it, but I haven’t discussed it too much with her, as I don’t want to build this up into anything worrying. Ah well.
Edited to add:
Small fell asleep at 8pm tonight. I fell asleep next to him half an hour later while trying to soothe him back to sleep. I came down for something to eat, and as I feel really weird now, I’m going back to bed. Night all.

Always good to hear about any bargains. We have some too this week from ELC.
Hey – another positive day? Does this maybe mark the beginning of good things? Glad you enjoyed it and the strawberries were actually picked up for the kids so it’s OK!!
Hope small stayed asleep. His insomnia seems to have moved to Amelie :o(
Bother- 🙁
Hm, he stayed in bed, but was very restless. I was glad I went up when I did. And he was up at 8, although dd beat him to it by 20 minutes. Poor you and Ammi though 🙁
