New Scientist

this was mentioned at our home ed group this morning, so as soon as I got in I had to look it up. Scary stuff.

  1. Better throw that TV away (think of all the space that would free up in your living room) and turf the kids out into the garden every day then!

  2. But they’re talking about children watching television at nighttime – and then go on to talk about artificial light, etc. It seems like more of a not getting daylight in the daytime and darkness at nighttime problem rather than a specific problem with TV. They’re not saying anything about watching TV during the day in a sunlit room {shrug}.
(I’m sure we grown-ups are all screwy from not going to bed with the sun too …… )

  3. Aww…I liked the idea of getting rid of the tv! But now it’s ok to watch it during the day?
Actually I wandered through a few articles, including the environmental quiz and was surprised to discover that cloth nappies are just as bad for the environment due to the large volumes of hot water and amount of detergent required. Eh? I’ve mailed them…

  4. Nonono, it’s not the nappies that are bad for the environment, it’s the babies, because they cause the nappies. 🙂

  5. I have a book, can’t remember it’s name though, something like “4 arguments to eliminate tv”. I’m sure if you wanted to get rid of the telly there would be enough to persuade you in it! I haven’t actually read it yet, but if you want to borrow it let me know!

  6. Alison’s tardiness w.r.t wanting to be read to is reason enough. EOA, bin the box 🙂
