and school. 🙂
Took 45 minutes to get the children up, dressed and out of the house this morning. Actually, no, that isn’t fair on Small. He was running around dressed and had his breakfast while Big only had half of a pair of tights on. Looking forward to the rerun in the morning. Not.
Reluctant start when I dropped them off, but I still made it to work for 10 past nine, and polished off the two bit that had me stymied last week. So that felt productive.
Roads were pretty clear getting to nursery and home again, and the children have had a lovely time. They’ve baked, done sticking things, played with musical instruments, just to mention a few highlights, and Small has added the words ‘moon’ and ‘blin’ (balloon) to his vocabulary. He was ever so cute, running out of the building shouting ‘moon’, ‘moon’, and waving hello. ‘Course, would have been better if he wasn’t just charging straight off the edge of the pavement 😉
Right, off to bed, tired now. No point in staying up late carrying out resolutions and ending up too knackered to enjoy the life I’m getting organised!

night night.
45 minutes sounds rather good to me! How quick were you hoping for?
No way i could do it in 45 minutes on my own – and if i had max helping, no way i could do it in 90!
With that long journey cut yopur time and give them breakfast in the car?
I think 45 mins sounds impressive too, I always allow an hour!
I’ve got two and 45 mins is good going!
Indeed, I have now had 3 years of practise and one child who is supposedly old enough to sort himself out and I still have to get up at 7am in order to leave at 8.30am and even then we most often are running late by at least 10 minutes!
B used to run off the edge of the pavement so he remained strapped in the buggy until recently. Now however he has the idea that he has to stop at the kerb but its like roadrunner, you know how when he stops he pings to and fro because he was running so fast? B has his toes dead up to the edge of the road swaying too and fro and it scares the life out of both me and any passing cars 😉
I’m ruthlessly organised the night before, though haven’t quite stooped to sending her to bed in her clothes, but have considered it. Even now, I’m prone to dress her on work mornings, as I can whip in and have it done before she is properly awake. Picnic breakfast ready the night before, and eaten in the car on the way to the childminder.
🙂 clothes the night before, hadn’t thought of that!
First off, the 45 minutes is just getting them dressed. It doesn’t include the 15 minutes it takes for me to shower and dress. Secondly, they do get breakfast in the car – fruit and chocolate bread or brioche usually. Thirdly, when it was just me and Big, I could do it from me getting up in 30 minutes, and if it were just Small, it would be the same. But Big is having tights issues atm, and then she fights me when I try to ‘help’ and that’s what is taking the time.
If we aren’t in a hurry it can either take lots less time, or hugely longer, depending on whether it’s somewhere they want to go…
During my A levels when I shared with a friend and we had no heating we survived a cold winter by getting ready for college the night before otherwise it was impossible to get up!
We can do it in 20 minutes in extreme circumstances with dry cereal for breakfast in the car! That is unless Ady is with us in which case 90 minutes would be a good average with at least three people shouting at each other! 😉
Forget the tights, go with jeans. 🙂 Used to have that battle with Myf, can’t/won’t put tights on. So stopped her wearing her girlie skirts and made her wear jeans on the days we have to be out of the house early for preschool or playgroup.
That stopped the procrastination. 😆
Hi Jax,
We seem to have fallen off the blog ring. Is it something we said??
