Another swimming and midwife day.

Last but one morning swimming session – on some levels I will be glad when they revert (although having them in the evening has its own challenges, mainly around fitting in tea!) as it is increasingly difficult to get Small going on a morning. If Big wakes him up it seems to be OK, but if I want to, it takes several minutes and usually puts him in an awful mood. Ah well.

Was glad to have allowed an extra ten minutes for the waddle down – I am increasingly ungainly and uncomfortable walking any distance, and it’s about half a mile to the pool. Took us about 30 minutes. Small had an excellent lesson with stand in teacher number 4 – he was slightly taken aback when he asked for D’s class and I said they’d only had her once. He was very good though, I saw him in the pool with them, and he seemed to be getting to grips nicely with demonstrating things to Small rather than just expecting the verbal instructions to take effect. Liked it when I saw him towing Small backwards with a noodle 🙂

Got chatting to another parent as a result of the exchange with the teacher, and once both our offspring were out of the pool and being dressed we chatted some more, and organised a playdate for after the next session. Result! Part of what Small hoped to get out of lessons is a friend or two, and this little boy, a year younger but about the same size, seems very lovely. And his mother, who is a teacher, was not at all phased by the home ed mention, apparently they have a cousin who is home educated 🙂

As a result of chatting saw barely any of Big’s lesson, though what I did see was good. They were in the big pool – there were hardly any children there today, and I think there was an entire group missing, so her class moved up a space. She is really making headway, and I’m very pleased with her.

Bought them both ice lollies as a treat on the way out – mainly because Small hadn’t had time for a drink due to the chatting.

Waddled home, even worse than waddling there as there’s an uphill bit (short but steep, leaves me completely out of breath) and collapsed briefly, then rallied for lunch as I had a midwife appt early afternoon.

Yes, you’ve guessed it, waddled there. It’s on the way to the pool, was quite upsetting having to walk nearly as far again!

Midwife actually on time, and actually my midwife! Wow. Had bloods done – ouch, but managed to actually watch the process without fainting or anything, am definitely improving. Blood pressure 90/50, baby suitably active and bump growing nicely according to dates. Also have an appt with a physio now, as the leg/ back thing is becoming highly unamusing. Other than that, all is good.

Home, and did more TMA, then gave up and shoved it in the post. Suspect I’m going to get a failing mark on this assignment 🙁 Oh well. This course has been very depressing for me, I was looking forward to fixing maths after my A level experience, but instead it’s just gone to show that I’m not a mathematician at all, just someone who is quite good at tricks with numbers. Sigh.

Couldn’t face cooking so kids had sausage rolls and beans, and Tim and I splurged on a veg set meal for two from the second nearest chinese. (The nearest one was closed, so Tim got plenty of exercise fetching the food as well 🙂 ) It was excellent, and rather redeemed the day for me, though I retired fairly swiftly after it with very sore legs. Too much walking for one day.

  1. you have all my sympathy on the sore legs front. NO fun and totally impractical a thing to happen!
mine havn’t been as bad this time, though my pelvis was starting to drift out of alignment and my osteapth/kieniesologist cracked it several times last visit and it seems much better now! Getting really tired walking now though 🙁
.-= mamacrow´s last blog ..Book Sharing Monday =-.

  2. don’t put yourself down on the maths, OU aren’t known for their user friendliness you know!!! I suspect there are probably better ways to restore your faith in your maths ability than launching into the first year of a degree.
