as we were off to see Black Beauty as part of the National Schools Film Week Film due to start at 10, so we were out of the house by 9.07, some kind of record, and despite Big’s best efforts not to get ready. Met Kirsty there, which meant that we had two adults for the inevitable toilet trips and smaller offspring wanting to escape. 😉 Did find it slightly intimidating sitting in the middle of a cinema and being gradually surrounded by school children though…especially as, when the lights went down, the boys in front of us didn’t quieten down instantly, and a teacher from a different school came along to yell at them! Oh please, speak to my children like that…
Anyway, Big thoroughly enjoyed the film, although she shed a few tears at the end, and had to sit on my knee for the scary bit near the beginning. Small managed over an hour in the cinema, slightly less than an hour of the film, given that we had to wait nearly 15 minutes for all the schools to show up and file in. Wonder if they’d have waited for us?
After that, lunch courtesy of Greggs, and on to the Little Tikes play area, much needed after sitting in the cinema for all that length of time. And time for Kirsty and I to chat, also much needed 😉
Home, eventually, with a sleeping Small, so Big played quietly with her duplo. And after a while she did a little more of her phonics – turned out that the problem was far more to do with the layout of the page than the phonics contained. She thoroughly enjoyed lots of one to one with her daddy too 😉
And now she’s in bed (or at the very least upstairs), Small is crashing around downstairs, and I’ve got the tea on while we’re watching Stargate. I should really be packing as I’m taking the kids off in the morning to see Friends for a couple of days, but I’ll get to that later.

Sounds like a rewarding day Jax well done. (I worry about my comments sometimes – sounds like a bloomin teacher!!)
Sounds like a nice day, have a good couple of days away too 🙂
I read it like a list of tips as we are off to the Filmworks in Manchester tomorrow (and have to try get there by 10am! Trains are an issue!) Wish us luck. I expect we’ll have a few lap moments (‘The Little Princess’), but Daddy is coming too so we should manage to breastfeed Freya into virtual silence and coach Lani through the sad bits. It may end up like ‘The Secret Garden’ with the whole family sitting in tears! Have fun away (I hope Tim can hobble enough to eat!)

I’m amazed you managed to get though Black Beauty unscathed, it is one of the most depressing films I’ve ever seen *sob*
Have fun while you’re away 🙂
