An odd sort of domino game.

Earlier today I tweeted that I had just taken before pictures of the three rooms I hoped to sort out today. Three rooms, one response said, and I tried to explain in a tweet that it was kind of like one of those domino rally things, only hopefully make less mess instead of more…

You see, we took the smaller bookcase out of the children’s room and installed it at the end of the wardrobe in ours. Thus actually giving *me* some book storage space, so I could gather up all the books lying around the living room and shelve them. And we replaced the smaller bookcase in their room with a larger one, and I went through all the books in their room and took out the reference stuff that has no interest for them, and put most of it into the glass fronted cabinet in our room, that until a couple of days ago was stuffed with my out of date paperwork.

It’s a slow job, sorting, when you’ve let a house get into this sort of state. I took a car load of stuff down to the charity shop too – 4 large boxes of books, a spare dolls house, some bits of furniture, an IKEA iron, never removed from its box that neither of us recalls buying. Outgrown clothes that don’t have enough emotional significance to either store or try to hand on to someone I know. Just stuff. But such a lot of it.

And all of that took up much of the day. I haven’t taken after pictures, so I won’t bother sticking the befores on just now, but at least it’s another day where things have happened and stuff has been done. And in and amongst, mainly over the top of a feeding baby’s head, I read a book. Separate review of that to follow 🙂
