I didn’t lose the netbook as we moved, but I do appear to have packed any source of energy! I’m quite literally falling asleep on the keyboard of an evening, and given that I’ve been trying to keep up with reading other ppl’s blogs and the emails flooding in from various lists, I just don’t seem to have got around to blogging.
Anyway, we left Yorkshire abruptly on Monday evening, rushing out of the house to pick up Tim, all over the place as Small decided to derail me rather by falling off a wall and putting a long scrape down one shin and a smaller scrape down the other. Poor boy, he was really shocked and in pain 🙁 We did remember to bring the cat, who has only just recovered from the longest car journey of his life, extended slightly by us stopping for dinner at Little Chef, Worksop.
Small surprised us there by reading the menu for himself and then choosing Spaghetti Bolognese and what’s more, eating about two thirds of it. Enough for him to get an ice cream pudding anyway. Another stop nearly here at Tesco and it was near to midnight before we got in. A very long day.
Tuesday, unsurprisingly, we weren’t up to much. The children were thrilled with their packs from the Woodland Trust Nature detectives and they both spent quite some time on that. We did make it down to the library and joined – Small got out a book of poetry which surprised me rather, and Big turned down Deathly Hallows (which I really don’t think she’s enjoying at all) in favour of The Tales of Beedle the Bard and Being Binah
. She’s finished them both now though, and wants to go back tomorrow!
Went round to Tim’s brothers for tea that night, which was very pleasant – there are plans afoot for cookery lessons which sounds like an excellent idea to me 😉
Today we’ve been over to see Em and her two, and had a lovely lunch, and then a good afternoon playing Ticket to Ride Europe. Em had to dash off to gym, just as Small rather let himself down by having an accident in the kitchen 🙁 Ages since he’s done that, and it is purely down to him not paying attention, so I was quite cross with him, not that he notices that either! He’d had a good time making beeping noises with Matt as well as playing games, and all the kids got outside for a bit as well. Excellent afternoon all round.
As this had all followed a very disturbed night last night – Big is having problems with her toe again 🙁 – we were all a bit frayed by the time we got home, but kids are in bed now, and I’m going up when I finish this.
Not sure what tomorrow holds, still feels a bit limbo until we finish off in Yorkshire, but Tim’s done sterling work today, the kids bedroom is very nearly sorted, there’s some of our furniture in the living room and it’s beginning to feel more like home rather than squatting. Only the garage to empty now!
