not helped by waking for the alarm, waking up Tim, and then both of us going back to sleep for half an hour. Hate it when the day starts like that.

Still managed to beat both the children downstairs, meaning I was ensconced and already working by the time they toddled down. Got Big set up with Monkey Business, thanks to a tip from Alison 😉 which should have kicked us off nicely for the day. Instead she didn’t have her breakfast til late, (missing Lazy Town through her all out of whack apparently, as that’s how she knows it’s time for breakfast) so started out grumpy and got steadily worse as the day progressed. Frequent suggestions of things she might like to do were dismissed, apart from learning to plait hair (she found a disembodied Barbie head to practise on, so at least it’s been useful for something), until I finally lost my rag with her and demanded she turn the tv off. At that point she suddenly regained the power of thought, spent some time on the computer, got out a craft box and made herself a rather beautiful peg doll. Oh, and she flicked through three books, but refused to consider reading any of them 🙁

So by the time Tim reappeared this evening I was ready for a little time off, so I popped up to Tescopoly to do a spot of shopping. And now I’m going for an early night.
