A long afternoon

But I didn’t see all of it. I did go back to bed, when Small wanted to sleep. I was woken when my parents arrived, so we spent a pleasant couple of hours looking through postcards, and with mother reading to Big.

Small’s big achievement of the day was to let me actually read him a book – usually he wants to turn pages backwards or forwards faster than I can read. Today he wanted to look at the pictures *and* listen to the story, so that was rather nice.

Big and I fell out rather more than we were in today iyswim. So I’ve resolved (again) that I need to turn the computer off during the day. I’ve got this theory that I ought to get a bit of work done, but if I’m honest, I’m not working, just browsing blogs and forums. So if I turned it off and spent the time with the children, then I’d feel I could set to in the evenings fresh and ready for it. And if I get them involved in the housework perhaps that won’t feel quite so onerous either. Well, Small likes to help – he helps with the washing, gets it out of the basket and passes it to me. He was so cute in the bathroom tonight – I wiped the changing mat where he’d dripped bathwater on it and he immediately wanted the paper so that he could dry the step to sit on it. Funny boy.
