is in heaven in this house 😉
Small is spending the day toddling into the dining room, fetching a book to read, reading it, then taking it back to exchange for another. So cute.
We had swimming this morning, then we did library, post office, co op, boots and TKMaxx. Then Small fell asleep in the car, so I had a luxurious bath without any children(!) while Big watched tv. I’m getting a bit tired of the constant tv, but it doesn’t seem to bother her.
sound of the day is n
Forgot to mention that Small started the day by falling over, catching his chin on the footstool and putting his tooth through his lip. Ouch.

Ah, bless! We had a lot of TV today too (well, Tintin DVDs) and I’ve just turfed them all out for some fresh air. A luxurious bath sounds nice – I was packing to go away! Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday, Jax 🙂
Aww @ the book things, so cute!
Sorry to hear about the accident though, ouch! Joseph cut his lip at Home Ed group last week, it isn’t nice is it?
ouch, sounds painful! but good on the books – n is a good letter (all the best names start with n ;0)
Lol, he and Lulah can sit and read books together all day next week then 🙂 She cut her lip last weekend – she’d been upstairs, made no fuss, and came down later with dried blood all round her mouth like she’d been tucking into some carrion – C and I were rather taken aback until we found the small tooth-shaped hole in her lip!
Will give you a ring tomorrow – can’t do phone calls in evenings!
Ouch. Poor boy :~( I tend to be fairly immune to blood and mouth, given the regularity with which Fran does the vampire impression; there is nothing quite like a rampant nosebleed via the mouth :~/
Ammi is really booky too, its lovely.
Ouch about the tooth hope big is OK, great that small is into his books. Did Tim find anything to help with lying down and using his laptop. When I read his post last week I did some research on Disability aids but didn’t find much. I looked for a couple of hours around the disability websites but I’m sure there must be something for people who have to spend time on their backs and use a computer. It’s worth pursuing this line of enquiry if he still wants something to hold his laptop and use it lying down.
Jax, did you think of getting a wooden bedtray from IKEA or similar and cutting the legs at an angle so that it tips slightly forward (cutting front legs shorter to achieve the angle). Make sure it has a lip on the lower edge or attach a piece of wood to do the job. Just an idea.
Ouch re: the lip (arnica and ledum … help with bruising and pain).
Lani did the same as Small recently when we were baking, by catching her mouth on the Kenwood metal mixing bowl. We had to check out the injury didn’t effect the lip line as apparently it may cause considerable problems when healing.
Re: TV. Maria Montessori said that all TV watching below age 6 is vicarious living, and therefore useless as learning. But I totally beg to differ with her on that one. Lani learns and retains huge amounts of things from TV. Also, Montessori says that a child will repeat what they need to repeat and you should trust them in this. If you’ve provided enough interesting alternatives and your child still wants to watch Oliver Twist or the Jellyfish documentary for the 4th time that day, I think we should trust that they are getting something out of it that they need.

Hope Small’s lip is better today.
Teeny does the exact same thing with books – she will happpily toddle back and forth to the bookcase for an hour providing you sit her on your lap and ‘read’ the books with her – course that could be cos she’s spent the last nearly two years watching me with my head buried in either a book or a magazine!
