We travelled back from edge-of-country house to middle-of-country house much later than hoped for yesterday afternoon, given complete waffling around rather than rapid packing yesterday morning. We were accompanied by the dulcet tones of Stephen Fry again, and arrived home with only 10 minutes to go, so the children sat rapt in the living room while Tim and I unpacked the car. I did listen to the last 10 minutes later on myself, I couldn’t resist  Given that we’ve now finished book 2, Big has started reading her copy of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3) Paperback. Small is still reading Book 1, he’s now on Chapter 4, and loving it. He’s looking forward to watching the films, but doesn’t know when that might happen, he doesn’t know that we’ve ordered this Harry Potter Years 1-5 Box Set [2001]
🙂
The order was partly sparked off by my finding Running On Empty on offer on Amazon, it’s one of all my all time fave films, but I haven’t seen it for about 10 years as I used to have it on VHS recorded off the TV and I don’t think we’ve had a working video player for nearly that long. Anyway, I’d reached £10 on Valued Opinions (and nearly £10 again in fact) so was quite happy to splurge it on DVDs for us all to enjoy. Not sure how far we’ll be able to go through the Harry Potter films with a not quite 6 year old, but he’s really enjoying the books so guess we’ll just see how it goes.
So for the last week, I’d say we’ve mainly done literacy and physical education, with a fair bit of socialising thrown in. The kind of week I enjoy actually. Small did ask a lovely question yesterday about how come the moon seems to change shape, which has a corresponding experiment in the new science book (knew that was a good buy 😀 ) so we’ll try to fit that in some time in the next day or so.
Over the last couple of evenings I’ve been nicely political, responding to consultations and emailing MPs and select committees, may continue with that this evening, but really really need to get on with my maths. Oh, and my tax return, after I’ve been to old house and picked up the logon information!
