A day away.

Twitter overwhelmed me this morning. I’d already signed petitions and sent emails about Syria, and I couldn’t cope with tweet after tweet imploring me to take action that I’d already taken. So I stepped away and got on with a day in the real world.

A day that involved a dentist trip for me and smallest, that turned into a bit of a farce when I couldn’t find anywhere to park, and then, abandoning the car, tried to take a short cut that turned out to be a dead end. This while wearing tigerboy and either carrying smallest or jollying her along. And on the way back to the car we were rained on. It was almost worth it to see these.

Then we went shopping. And on the spur of the moment I decided to treat us to lunch out. It occurred to me that I used to do this all the time with big, and smallest just doesn’t get those treats, and she ought to.

It was lovely. She’s good company. And no one looked at me funny for breastfeeding in the cafe even though I hadn’t chosen a good top for it at all.

So that was my day without twitter. Just a normal day. And throughout it I couldn’t stop thinking about the children of Syria and Niger.

  1. I sometimes feel that we sign petition after petition and nothing changes. If once, even if a petition succeeds in getting the government to hold a meeting or change a policy, if once it improved the situation on the ground, that would be good.

  2. Breastfeeding in public is much easier these days I think… I work in a restaurant and most people don’t bat an eyelid anymore which is a good thing!
Off to find you on Twitter!

  3. Sounds like you had a well deserved break. Hugs x

    1. I think we all need to take time away ever now and then.
