Apparently the time that some time overnight in my sleep, I decided was a good time to get up and reset my alarm clock for. Not good, when actually I needed to be up at 6.43 (the time I’d checked it was set for last night). So although I’d woken at 6, 6.16, and 6.33, I didn’t actually wake up properly and fling myself out of bed until 7.13, then needing to rush through the whole getting ready thing, which the kids did admirably well, and we still managed to leave the house by 7.40.
Ten minutes late setting off adds over 10 minutes to our journey time, so it was nearly 9 am by the time I got them to school, thus setting the stage for a day of rushing to do things and not quite getting there in time. Although I have now learnt how to install and configure tomcat servers. (I have not learnt, not do I think I ever will, why so many of my colleagues appear to think dismissing what you’ve spent the last 4 days doing is a good idea. The next time one of them tells me “but that’s really easy” I shall say “oh great, so you’re offering to do it then?” Grumph.)
Things I have managed to do – remember to buy some fake shreddies – so when we got home and Big emptied the box before Small had a chance to get any (thus filling her bowl to overflowing it has to be said) I was able to just produce another box and keep going. And I’ve read to them, two more chapters of The Gypsy’s secret, which I’ve just discovered is a book written by a Christian press, others in the series include:
¨THE HARE-BRAINED HABIT (Topic: Media)
Dusty Mole concerned about his friends strange behaviour knows the members of the Mystery Club must learn an important lesson about balancing work and play. ARP $12.95
¨THE UPSTAIRS CONNECTION (Topic: Ecology)
A strange illness is threatening the town. The Molehole Mystery Club resolves to find the cause. ARP $12.95
¨SECRET AT MOSSY ROOTS MANSION (Topic: Prejudice) Late for a Molehole Mystery Club meeting, Musty Mole takes a shortcut and runs into something pretty strange. ARP $12.95
I am now wondering what topic we’re reading now! Kids are loving it though, Big especially displeased when I refused to read more than two chapters 😆
Things I am *really* proud of remembering to do – I’ve put some washing on! This is a good thing. If I can remember to hang it out when it’s done, I might have clothes to wear all week.
Right, must go get some food. Slightly disconcerted by the overhead signs on the M1 displaying “Severe weather warning jan 8 – 9” – can’t actually find anything to merit that on any of the weather forecasts sites for this area. Am I missing something?
