Whoa! Totally weird blast from the blast

We’re watching a film on ITV (Murder by numbers in case you’re interested, bit slow tbh) and it’s just broken for the news. First time I’ve watched Calendar since I can remember, and was completely astounded to hear the name of the lad who was my next door neighbour when I was a child as the reporter in the field. Weird. Very weird. Used to play Dr Who with him 😉

Anyway, the day. As has been blogged elsewhere, went to Shirebrook nature reserve today. Was well impressed with myself actually – yesterday was pretty much a write off, although we did make it to the library. Big was miserable by the end of the day as Tim was out late, and she was talking about nightmares she’s been having (anyone know where she might have got the skeleton king from? She thinks it could have been Pop, with Super Mario Brothers, but I’ve not noticed it) and what would she do if she had a bad dream and Daddy wasn’t there? Guess she must have managed though, once I’d got them to bed I wasn’t long behind them, as I had a horrendous headache, and I didn’t surface til gone 9 this morning.

So as I was saying, well impressed to get up and out, with packed lunch as well, for before 11 this morning. Was still feeling a little delicate (I do not think of my period as a time of celebration I’m afraid, and doubt I ever will) so wimped out before the treasure trail, and went to the shopping centre instead. Odd children I’ve got – they both chose workbooks from the extensive range in wilco’s. Think I might have to dig all of this stuff out and put it in an easily accessible location, and drag it out next time a certain person says she’s bored 😉

Did quite enjoy the flower hunting though, except for the minute or so when I realised Small had given me the slip, yet again. Yarg. Very much enjoyed the digital microscope wired up to the laptop, and also the fact that I only needed to show Big once how to save her piccies. Obviously some of this IT stuff is sinking in then 🙂 Unfortunately the colour cartridge on the nature reserve printer was running out, so the piccies are a bit odd, but I think we’ll see if we can get another set next time. Was also amused to discover Small features in one of the many displays around the place, there’s a lovely piccie of him sitting in a big basket from the day we did the basket weaving there!

Back home, and both Kirsty and Barbara came along for a cuppa. Which was nice. 🙂

Rest of the afternoon passes in a bit of a blur. Small didn’t eat again, he’s getting very picky. Big requested to play games with Daddy at bedtime, so I didn’t get to read her any of the two Elizabeth I books we got yesterday at the library. Small went to sleep by himself after waving me goodnight – I went up to check on him and he was cuddling Pooh. Awww.

Not be long before I’m up there myself now.
