What did you learn today?

I learnt that library computer systems are not foolproof. Despite being told that Smallest’s card was clear, tonight I got a warning that a bill for a book I’m fairly sure we don’t have will be arriving in the post.

Big learnt about genetics. Or she would have done if she’d paid attention when Tim explained why there aren’t any red rabbits. Or something like that.

Smallest learnt that cats are sharp 🙁 (The cat learnt that parents get very cross very fast and that leaving the room promptly at this point is advisable.) She also acquired a whole number of extra words and tonight she’s mastered press studs. Means that she’s currently sitting next to me wearing just a nappy, and we’re going to have to find a different sleepsuit solution. I’m a bit sad, I love the look of a toddler in a babygrow.

Small should have learnt that it’s a good idea to tidy up when mummy says so. If he had tidied up, he’d have found the ds game he’s been looking for. As it was, I found it, and he doesn’t get to have it back until he’s done the tidying. Like I said, he should have learnt, but I don’t think he did yet.

It’s wonderful stuff this home education. Much wider than you’d expect.

  1. I await news of how you dealt with the library. 🙂

  2. Well, in defence of the library’s computer system I should point out that sometimes it’s the library staff who make the mistake and, erm, sometimes it’s the borrower. Whenever I hear something like ‘fairly sure’ I tend to expect a return visit with the book in a penitent hand 😉

  3. babygroes do go on backwards, this means that well grown babies find it much harder to escape…. failing that, a lot of supermarkets sell sleepsuits that zip up at teh back which are almost as cute as babygroes! (Aprilia had an Eyore one complete with floppy ears and a tail….. it was unspeakably cute)
