Weekend snippets Feb 14 2016

{Chopping} brambles. Is that gardening or ungardening? Whatever it was I appear to have overdone it slightly, as I’ve got rather sore legs tonight.

{watching} toy story as our family film night choice. Fab to so easily have access to such classic films via Netflix. I had forgotten the moments of mild peril which caused Smallest some upset, but she made it through.

{indulging} myself rescuing plants. Well, one plant. I feel sorry for the left behind ones on the reduced section and bought a 50p hyacinth and a similarly reduced pot in a charity shop. Bargain.

{entertaining} an extra teen for tea. Big was away for a couple of nights with school, so wanted to catch up with her friend and fortunately we had sausages to spare 😉

{reading} more about unschooling. And pondering language learning. Smallest wants to learn Spanish, Small Japanese. I think I may be in for some interesting experiences.

Snapshots

Big managed a 12m zip wire this weekend, and is very proud of herself for doing so. Small has completely cracked Rubik’s cube, although I’m doing so his fell apart. Which meant he spent several hours with Tim today rebuilding it. I’m sure he learnt lots from that. Smallest is continuing in her learn to read quest. She’s sounding out lots now and ready to give most things a go. Tigerboy is, I suspect, sneakily learning to read alongside his sister. He’s a determined type 😉

  1. FYI, my friends’s daughter taught herself Manadrin Chinese from online courses and you tube viveos. Then she joined forums and has Chinese friends who she chats to. Just sayig that i know language learning is doable online and independently of formal lessons.

    1. Have had memrise recommended, so going to start with that. Should look up that book you reviewed a while back!

  2. Aww I love these little snippets into you life and I am loving the photo. Interesting language choices, hope that goes well xx
