after I got another decent night on the pullout bed. Apart from the backache 😉
Mainly today we’ve pottered. Finally got around to doing some more work on Big’s scales – I’m taking piccies as we go along. We played the piano a bit – by a stroke of luck I opened the children’s song book to Frere Jacque, which turns out to be simple enough for Big to play herself, phrase by phrase, after me. She wasn’t overly impressed with the beginner books I’ve got, back from when my sisters learnt, and I can’t say I am either. So I think picking out tunes she recognises will probably do fine for now.
They both spent some time playing Adiboo – well, Small watched some of the songs 😉 after Big had played on and off for a couple of hours. She was ever so cross when I wouldn’t let her eat her sandwiches at the keyboard!
This afternoon she wanted her magnetic letters out, which turned out to be a problem as Small thought they looked edible 🙁 Plus I wasn’t really up for 20 minutes of trying to work out how to sound out all of our names when she wasn’t trying to listen to what I was saying. Small’s name was spelt out without vowels, but when she started mummy with “m” “h” I knew I was onto a loser. I think she does get n, h and u confused at times, but I think today she was trying really hard just to wind me up, so I wasn’t going to bite. Might get out the sensory letters for a bit though, just to reinforce things.
Lots of reading to Small in and amongst other bits, I managed to get some washing done so that it can sit in the machine for a while ;), while I watch Gattaca, which I’m rather enjoying.
