Unusually quiet

Tim took the children to school this morning, and they are being picked up and kept overnight by my sister, K, who will then return them to school in the morning for one of us to pick up tomorrow night.

This is our first night without at least one child with us since Small was born, as far as I can recall, he’s never slept away from us before. He was a bit uneasy about the idea this morning, but he’s very fond of both Aunty K and her house (she has a fully boarded loft full of her partner’s two boys toys 😉 ) and I’m sure he’ll be fine.

I haven’t had the television on at all today, and mostly I’ve read. I have just had a very slow stroll round to the post office, which is less than 1/4 mile away, lest anyone should think I’m overdoing it 😀

So, what to do tonight? Doubt very much there is anything on tv. Tbh, what appeals is some food, a fake beer and an early night, followed by a nice long lie in tomorrow. And at both ends of that, before anyone gets really excited, I want to sleep. Guess I’m not better yet then.

My two yarn orders disappointingly haven’t arrived – the texere one I now find only promises despatch within 5 days (harumph!) and the hcscrafts one didn’t have my snuggly in stock. I mailed them back to say I’d take King Cole Baby Pure instead, but they haven’t responded to this. I don’t think either of these companies quite understands the web, I expect a response within 24 hours, and preferably my order within 48! Spoiled by many more organised companies and individuals – I’ve had things delivered from ebay hugely quicker than this, and for example yesterday I had a response to a query from one online shop in under half an hour.

Still, guess that’s the way it goes. Yarn isn’t exactly hi tech, and the companies that sell it probably aren’t either. Bit annoyed though, I really wanted to get a head start on the various things I want to make for ppl for christmas and today and tomorrow, without children, were ideal days for it.

Oh well. Guess I’d better read some more. What a hardship 😉

  1. grrr to slow package senders!!! They should take a leaf out of Merry’s book! Hope it’s worth the wait, I really want some of that cotton from Texere but my concience (aka Aprilia) says I have enough yarn already (she’s just too young to understand!)
Enjoy the taking it easy and sleeping. I’m sure Small is fine!

  2. Make the most of the peace and quiet, hope it really helps in the getting better process.
