We’re watching Tony Robinson’s Primary History here, it’s going down very well. Today it’s focusing on what the Romans and Vikings ate, quite interesting.
Education has gone by the wayside a bit over the past week of interviews, and it hasn’t done any of us any good. Big has been making mathematical breakthroughs all by herself, but her temper has been atrocious, culminating in an almighty meltdown as we tried to leave Barbara’s last night. Enough is enough, so I’m pulling everything in and focusing on home and children (not least as I can’t seem to do anything else, and not for want of trying 🙁 )
So I’ve got a job list today that includes such things as washing, washing up, taxing the car (oops!), visiting the library to return the horribly over due books, doing some shopping as we’ve no food. I’m debating planning a menu as I’m wondering if part of the behaviour is down to our terrible diet. Coincidentally, there’s a rather good thread over at Feminist Parents all about menus, so I’m keeping an eye on that.
And we’re going to do some education. So far we’ve got some history, which I think might tie in with some science if we think about nutrition and healthy eating (Merry, wanna pick your brains!). I’ve got a maths program and a reading program in the tv planner, and I want to fit in reading lessons and some more Exeter maths. Think we’ll also do some knitting (I *must* do some crochet!) and a birthday card or too.
Small isn’t going to be missed out either, he’s very into jigsaws just now, so I want to find him some of the ones Big has at this kind of age. And he’s showing a lot of interest in my piano, so I want to follow that up by popping on some classical music to broaden his horizons a bit (and get shot of Tiny Pop – yeuch!)
Right, will achieve much more if I turn this off for a bit – although I’ll be back later when Big is doing her workbooks 😉 and then I can get some of my work work done!
edited to add link to primary history programme

Hope the day panned out as you wanted. I think turning off the computer from time to time if you can is a very good move. Well done you – I hope it helped.
We like Primary History, too. I keep missing it cos I’m at work most mornings, but the others are watching pretty regularly, and it sounds great. CBBC Channel, I think.
