Today I will choose

Instead of being wound up that I slept late, I will choose to be grateful that I didn’t need to get up and could catch up on my sleep. I will choose to be happy that Tim decided I needed the sleep more than I needed to get things done. It also meant that instead of running in the rain this morning I ran in the relative dryness of lunch time.

I will choose to see the positives in the wooden blocks scattered around the living room floor for the third time today; it is good that we found a toy the younger two love so much that they get them out again every time I put them away.

And the blog post that was interrupted every time I sat down to write it, that’s still in draft for another day? I will choose to be pleased that I have another night to sleep on it and can attack it fresh in the morning.

As for the children bouncing on me instead of sleeping? I will choose to cherish their health and energy.

  1. Lately I’m mostly choosing not to blog or tweet or facebook and just to enjoy the moment for a while, focusing on the kids first, doing creative things second and building up a new business. It’s good to be busy doing those things again.

    1. Sounds like a positive change of focus for you 🙂

  2. I’m glad I chose to let myself sleep in this morning, for the last time till the boys are away at their dad’s again (which probably won’t be till the Easter holidays).
I’m glad my boys are back home now, safe and sound.
I’m glad I chose to have a doze on the sofa after tea as Max woke about 45 minutes ago as he’s not feeling well, so at least I’m not feeling exhausted and wanting to sleep while he’s awake.
Most of all, I’m glad I read this post, because I think I have more of an idea of what my One Little Word will be for the year. Choose.
    So thank you! 🙂

  5. That’s a lovely post. Those choices bring you peace – well, as much as poss with four (happy and healthy) kids about!

    1. That was my hope to be honest. No point in getting wound up about things you can’t change.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
