Pleasant afternoon in the main, children ran in and out a lot, Small tried to fall asleep on the sofa and we refused to let him, and I did roast dinner and actually got it all ready together and earlier than the time I’d said I would! Result 😉
Forgot to mention that Small asked to paint this morning, so I got all the stuff out and set them up in the garden, and he spent ages doing prints and messing about. He does seem to like that kind of thing.
Second night of trying to reorganise Small into sleeping – didn’t sound like Tim had too good a time of it, but it’s all quiet up there now. Very quiet, I think Tim must be asleep too. I’d like to be asleep, but I think I should seize the opportunity to get some work done.
Big isn’t very happy to have had her evening routine interrupted – even though I’ve chatted with her and read Drina to her, I don’t think I quite measure up to half an hour with daddy. We did spend some of the time discussing what she might want to do tomorrow – looks like science is on the cards, and possibly some maths workbook. Thinking about starting timestables with her, as she has started doing that kind of thing for herself as well. She didn’t help with any housework today – when I asked her to, she threw a dicky fit and ended up cooling off in her room for a bit. She has stopped threatening to kick me now though, seems to have sunk in that it doesn’t get her what she wants, it gets her a stint upstairs to calm down. Although I had to laugh when she threatened to kick the wall instead, and I think she did realise that she was being rather silly 😆
Small managed to headbutt the table tonight from within his high chair which was quite an impressive move – his right eyebrow is swelling nicely. Arnica ointment applied, hope that it calms down overnight. His achievement of the evening was to start pointing at his rear end while in the bath, and when I asked if he wanted to sit on the toilet he agreed, let me lift him over there, and then sat on it without screaming! Can’t help feeling that this could be a very important step, was wondering how we were going to move out of nappies when he thought the toilet was terrifying and the potty for wearing on your head… 😉
Right, think I’ll go put the kettle on, do the first sink load of washing up (for that reason I hate roast dinners, three pans and a roasting dish to get through before I can even start on the plates!!) and sort out a bag of bedding to go into the wash. That should make it rain overnight anyway.

I *love* Drina – I wanted to be her when I was about 7 🙂 . Which book is it? Have got lots of Drina books you can borrow if she enjoys it :D.
We’ve started at number 1, Ballet for Drina. She keeps bringing it to me to read, so she does seem to be enjoying it. 🙂 Might well take you up on that offer, Stella!
