Seemed pertinent at a time when ppl are debating on list what is education for. While I think it would be nice to know which capital city is which (and I don’t know, certainly never learnt it in school) I’m tempted to think that learning about global warming (and what to do about it!) is rather more useful…

  1. just makes me all the more certain that if I can possibly help it, mine are staying out of school. Love the line which said ‘A’ level students matter more than others …

  2. I have to say I’d go for the capital cities. I feel bombarded from all directions by environmental doom and gloom in so much of what I read to C ( and to a lesser extent, M too) that it makes it hard to learn other things. For example – rainforests. Tons of stuff about the destruction of rainforests, very little about what is there. Fishing – plenty about the dangers of overfishing, very little about fish, the sea, etc
