That’s no good, I won’t be able to remember a thing 😉
Let’s see, Big stayed at Barbara’s after our group on Monday, and was brought back Tues afternoon. I spent Tues morning decluttering, reasonably successfully, and it must have catching, as Tim got to work on the back bedroom. 🙂
Barbara came round for a coffee and to drop off Big, and the girls were doing so well together that I invited E to stay over too. They played in the garden for a bit, then we made pizza for tea. Big did some reading – the Usborne Apple Tree farm books aren’t as popular as red nose, but they serve the purpose. Then both girls sat down to some Exeter maths. Hm. Don’t think Big would do terribly well in a classroom – it suddenly seemed to be much more important to wail and throw herself around dramatically, rather than concentrate on maths that she usually enjoys. Not her finest moment!
The pizza was excellent, if a little later than usual for tea, and I rushed them all upstairs for a bath. Which then got delayed while I cleaned and disinfected after Small did something horrid. Bleargh!
Everyone to bed eventually – no story though as the girls found giggling together more exciting than story time. Shame, although I don’t think Wombat in the Wild is catching Big’s interest in the way some of our other bedtime stories have.
Weds morning happened rather earlier than I was happy about, as the girls got up shortly after six and started crashing about. I was very cross with them – and even crosser when they did it all again 20 minutes later!
Dragged myself out of bed finally just after 8 and pottered about getting ready to go to Chesterfield for my oft delayed hama session. Kris rang as we were about to set off, to ask if I was going to the meeting in Doncaster that afternoon. I decided on the spur of the moment that I would 🙂
Hama went well, with lots of free designs from BeadMerrily as inspiration. Think pretty much all of the children had a go at something, and so did some of the parents!
Trip to Doncaster always takes longer than I expected, but nice to meet another blogger, Nikki, irl 🙂 Meeting was, I think, productive.
After that we found a local Lidl and shopped, and on the way back stopped at the Clarks outlet as I’ve been feeling vaguely guilty for quite some time that I haven’t had the children’s feet checked. Turns out there’s no need to feel guilty, as neither of them have grown particularly (that’ll be a first then!) so I indulged them both with new doodles as marginally more appropriate to the weather than their wellies (and of course it’s chucking it down now. Figures.) The woman in the shop who did the fitting was absolutely lovely – we had to try on 5 pairs to find any that fitted Small (he was ever so good as well) and she quite happily came and sat on the floor next to the stand to do the fitting. Then, as previously documented, I managed to leave my phone in the shop, and when I got back there to pick it up, they’d already found it, got my home number off it, and rung Tim so that I wouldn’t worry. Ever so impressed – tempted to actually write and commend them!
Big was wonderfully well behaved all day yesterday, and Small was Small – if it hadn’t been for him staying up til nearly 11 (!) it would have been nearly the perfect day, if a little long.
Must make a note to myself though – while driving through the outskirts of chesterfield, it was recycling day, and I asked Big why we recycle. She didn’t know, so I think Ill think some more about Earth Day as a possible theme for our next puddlers group.
