This #AntiBullyingWeek, will you #ChooseKind? (A Wonder giveaway)

I have to admit I think it’s really sad that we need an Anti Bullying Week. I do wonder what the world would look like if we did manage to get the message across that bullying isn’t to be tolerated, within families, at schools, or in the workplace. Or indeed, anywhere.

Because it can happen anywhere. Or kind of nowhere, if you figure the virtual world into it as well. I’d love if we could just all Choose Kind.

That’s the message that comes through in Wonder, The Julian Chapter and the companion book, 365 Days of Wonder. I’ve reviewed Wonder: the Julian chapter, and included a bit about our family book club reading of Wonder itself. It’s a great book for reading as a family actually, with lots to discuss, or another idea might be for part of the family to read Wonder first, and part to read the Julian Chapter, and maybe discuss the issues that come up from each point of view.

The 365 days of Wonder book is just lovely though. Hang on, let me find you a picture.

This is the cover.

  1. Having been bullied throughout my life I really wish bullying did not exist, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a particularly unpleasant aspect of human nature. Maybe it can be evolved out of the species through education, I hope so, foolish optimist that I am. I’m guessing the quote I’d choose is probably already in there but here it is:
โ€œBe kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle,โ€ – Ian McClaren

  5. I was bullied in school it was an awful part of my life and I carry many emotional scars still I feel. I’m not sure if it fits the book but my favourite quote is ‘if you can’t be kind be quiet’ I’m not sure who said that x

  6. don’t be afraid to make mistakes, but make sure you always learn from them

Lovely giveaway ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m entering for Amber who has experienced bullying online and off.
My favourite quote, which I think would fit in with Anti-Bullying Week is by Stephen King: “The place where you made your stand never mattered.Only that you were there…and still on your feet.”

  8. Looks like a lovely book to share with the family

When people hurt you over and over, think of them like sandpaper. They may scratch and hurt you a bit, but in the end, you end up polished and they end up useless.
