Things I hate.

Cleaning up the kitchen, then cooking a nutritious meal and realising that the kitchen looks worse than when I started.

Remembering to take Small some toys to home ed group, then being unable to find them to bring them all home 🙁

Headaches caused by lack of sleep.

Wanting to respond to emails on email lists and being unable to think of a way to phrase what I want to say that doesn’t sound like the start of a flame war.

Too much noise (so why is my response to yell??)

Days like today when I know I have so much to do and I get to the end of it, and yesterday’s washing is still in the machine, I’ve done no work on any of my programming tasks, and Small managed to get too much sleep in the car so is likely to be up til midnight.

Hohum.

  1. you should have sung “Old Macdonald had a dinosaur” at the top of your lungs like I did yesterday to keep him awake ;o)
Deep breaths, and *hugs* about the not so good day :o)

  2. And you need to add one more thing babes to your list: worrying far too much about all of the above 😉 (which is probably contributing to the headaches). None of it is really important in the greater scheme of things, honestly.
So what if yesterdays washing is still in the machine – have you all run out of clothes?
So what if the kitchen is a mess after cooking a meal – that means you took time to prepare something good for your family.
So what if you mislaid a few toys – as long as they weren’t his favourites it doesn’t matter.
If you cannot think of the right thing to say then its best not to say anything.
We all yell and most of the time its unnecessary, its a parents right to yell 😉 Yelling is a sign of frustration, tiredness and general malaise which is not surprising considering the lack of sleep you have been having.
Its really easy to come down hard on yourself but take it from a pro who has spent years doing that (and achieving nothing in the process except making myself very ill), you can only do your best. The harder you are on yourself, the more frustrated you become. And one other important thing: never be afraid to ask for help.
Not that you need me to tell you any of this, do you? 😉

Oh I agree totally with this one – not a skill I’ve mastered yet.
    Tomorrow will be better.

  4. Oops, the same shit different part of the country thing is back isn’t it?!
Our day has been conducted at high volume and with rage a-plenty too, so have some hugs ((Jax)) and pour yourself a glass of something alcoholic and praise yourself for not resorting to ringing round adoption agencies touting your children like I nearly did today 🙂

  5. oh I knew I’d gone too far today when I started that course of action Nic!! ;O) Can’t say the agencies sounded too keen though… can’t think why…

  6. (((Jax))) Hugs from me too – you are *so* hard on yourself though, I second everything that Claire wrote!

  7. Can I add…
Reading blogs and desperately wanting to be able to write a comment like Claire’s but not knowing where to start.
    ((Jax))

  8. I agree totally with all these things. (It’s not just me then!) Plus always wanting to say something helpful in blog comments, but always somehow managing to put my foot in it.

  9. I didn’t see any putting foot in it whatsoever there Rosie. Your halo is shining 🙂

  10. “Wanting to respond to emails on email lists and being unable to think of a way to phrase what I want to say that doesn’t sound like the start of a flame war.”
If anyone ever does find a solution to this – please tell me!

  11. (((Jax))) and (((Jax))) – right there with you on all counts LOL

  12. Open mouth – insert foot and duck. “Too much noise (so why is my response to yell??)” Dunno but it’s mine too – Shriek at top volume “SHUT UP” Jax you did good today. Your kids socialised, made things, spoke (Small said “again” to me while we were playing with cars) and Big and Dino played well with the playdough. They self refereed and although we had to speak to them a couple of times they sorted themselves out without coming to blows. Dino even asked when you are coming back. As for the fire engine – I’d be tempted to ask people next week if it “accidentally found it’s way into their bag” I bet an overzealous child has bunged it in a bag. I think we’re right about the toy box though – I’ll dig out a box and a few toys to start the ball rolling.

  13. Hi Jax, and all the others at the Cfield group today – it was sooo lovely to meet you all and although I didn’t get to speak to anyone all that much Beth really enjoyed herself and is already asking when we get to come again.
Not really totally relevant to your blog but hoped it might help cheer up your evening a bit.

  14. I’m not very good at remembering to comment on the blogs (or thinking of good things to write in the comments when I do comment!) but wanted to send (((((Hugs)))))) for your bad days of late. That was me a couple weeks ago, friends over who’s kids recklessly broke toys, stole piggy bank money and left us in a terrible state and with a missing guinea pig, messy kitchen, never enough time. Ah well deep breathes this week things are looking up here and I hope they are for you soon too.
