There are times

I hate computers.

But I’m OK at maths 😉 Thanks to Lucy for this one.

You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 9/10 correct!

Could You Pass 8th Grade Math?

Big had another day of amusing herself by being bored, until I suggested that she got out her set of Usborne pink books, and she found a tiara to make, and that was good. Tonight she read Rattletrap Car to us, pretty much word perfect, and completely her own idea. I was very impressed. We may be turning a corner there – she was given Jasmine, the present fairy by a relative of one of Tim’s relatives at chrimble, and I’ve caught her several times in a quiet corner flicking through it. I think we may have found the book she needs to read.

Small is adding words to his vocabulary, mainly ones he needs for arguments. Today he has concentrated on ‘on’ (as in ‘No mummy, on!’ if you try to turn the tv off) and ‘up’ (as in ‘no mummy, up!’ if I want to be downstairs). I *think* it’s an improvement on just ‘mummy, mummy, mummy….’

I’ve been arguing with TurboLister tonight, and have finally listed a start of the pile of books from the dining room on Ebay’s 5p listing day. Haven’t got nearly as many done as I wanted, and very aware that I’m not very good at this Ebay listing thing, but hey, it’s a start. Now off to relax and consider what else I can do before bedtime.

  1. Yes – a very good score there 🙂 I saw it first on Emma’s blog – http://makingthemostoflife.blogspot.com/

  2. These hideous fairy books were the ones that tipped the balance for Hannah. She *wanted* to read HP etc, but they were far too dense un terms of quantity. She loved the covers of the fairy books, and Bob and I refused point blank to read them to her – so she did it herself. It was her breakthrough moment. I meant to do books yesterday, but I forgot.

  3. Fran hasn’t read her ones of those yet, though she probably could now. I’m not reading them to her, Felicity Wishes nearly kills me as it is!

  4. I argue with Turbo Lister quite frequently – although not frequently enough looking at the piles of stuff. *sigh*
Myf has turned the reading corner too – and it’s lovely to watch her reading. She insists on reading to us at night too. 😀 Someone bought her Prince Cinders for Christmas and she elected to read that instead of watching tv this morning.

  5. Star Wars books have done it for Mark. I couldn’t do reading fairy books either, glad I’ve got boys LOL!

  6. I got 9/10 too but I’ll be blowed if I can figure out which one I got wrong! WRT reading, you should try Captain Underpants. I refuse to let T read those in the same room as me, they are *awful* but he adores them ~sigh~ I think I’d prefer fairies LOL!
