The All Bran 5 day challenge.

Recently Britmums and Kelloggs All Bran supplied me with three boxes of new flavours of all bran.

3 flavours of All-Bran

This was so I could take part in the All Bran 5 day challenge.

Now, I’ve got to say, I’m not a fan of sweet cereal. So I wasn’t particlarly attracted to the idea of chocolate all bran. I decided I’d get that over with first of all.

I have to say this surprised me. Unlike other chocolate cereals, this tastes like real chocolate, not paste. And I weighed out the advised portion and that was satisfying – lots of cereals in that kind of quantity are completely pointless. So, day 1, a win for All Bran.

From then on, I alternated the other two flavours. Although to be honest, I preferred them combined. The strawberry is a little too sweet for me, and the golden crunch was just a bit light.

They both made for good breakfasts though.

The prompt from Britmums mentions the real mum of all bran challenge. I’m not quite sure how you’d be an unreal mum to be honest. And I don’t think breakfast makes that much difference to your reality. However, the idea that serotonin is produced in the gut gave me pause. Serotonin is implicated in depression. And there are also a variety of articles flying around tying serotonin and vit D to issues in autism. That hits a little close to home right now.

I’m working on my body. My health. My happiness. I can’t be a good parent if I’m not happy, whole, improving. That means taking care of my inside, my outside and my mind. Which means good food, sensible exercise (love my pilates, when I can’t run). Knowing where I’m starting from, knowing myself is helping.

So that’s my challenge. What’s yours?
