Superheroes galore!

Weds morning escapes me, probably involved screen time of putering and/or tv. Intended to get out for shortly after lunchtime, then aimed at 3 o’clock, actually left the house at 3.30 – questseekers is only open til 4, so was feeling slightly stressed by this point.

Small returned You’re a Bad Man, Mr. Gum! and is now up to 4 books on his challenge. We found him some that he thought he would really like including Superman returns and a couple of graphic novels. He’s also got The Last Wolf so hopefully he can finish those two by early next week and we’ll be sorted.

Big took back two short Eoin Colfer books, The Legend of Captain Crow’s Teeth and The Legend of Spud Murphy. That takes her up to five, and she’s got a couple of shortish books at home. She also wanted further recommendations so we found her a Meg Cabot, the first of The Princess Diaries and a Jenny Nimmo, The Night of the Unicorn. I haven’t read any Jenny Nimmo, but I’m fairly sure that I’ve heard her recommended before now.

I picked up a couple of easy reads, a Dick Francis, and a David Eddings. Amused that both of them are co-authored now.

On the way down to the library we passed D and S’s house and noticed a concrete lorry outside, with a succession of men wearing blue T shirts, each pushing a wheelbarrow. D is having a garden room added to the back of the house – we’d seen a skip earlier in the week full of soil and stuff. On the way back from the library the lorry had gone, so I said we could knock on the door and ask if it was OK to see how the work was going.

S was in and quite pleased to see us – she’d remarked earlier that it was a shame Small didn’t see the lorry. We said he had, so all was well. They now have a trench in the back garden where the outer wall will go, which is full of slowly setting concrete. Was great to have a good look and talk about the process.

Kids then told S all about the reading scheme and their library books, and we had a lovely chat before heading for home. Passed D on his way home and then Tim headed out for his constitutional 😉 and the two blokes came back with chinese for us to share. A lovely afternoon and evening all round.
