well, not quite actually.
The tent is clean, dry and put away. The groundsheet is clean, dry and put away. The most recent washing is wet, in the basket and waiting to go out on the line – would it be weird to hang it out in the evening? Not sure I care actually 😉 Good tip from someone somewhere – stop thinking of the washing as a job you can finish, it’s just something you have to keep ticking along. So you can’t get behind with it, it’s just always in process. Explained that incredibly badly, but it helped me.
Big has done more string art – I introduced the concept of tallying and she’s been keeping track of how many times she has done the pattern to complete the whatever-it-is we’re making. Just as well I don’t have educational categories any more, haven’t a clue where this would fit! She also read to her daddy this morning, and has watched Child of Our Time this afternoon, as well as copious amounts of running round the garden like a loon, and the occasional whinge and strop. That has been better today, vindicating my decision to stay home rather than going to Chesterfield group (which was a little disappointing as they were doing spinning, drop spindles and weaving, and *I* really wanted to do it! Ever noticed that that’s one of the good things about home ed? getting to try out things that you missed out on first time around? 😉 )
Small has been Small. He relocated apples to the sofa, wrecked the box for a set of animal snap cards, and thoroughly enjoyed running up and down the garden with Big’s doll pushchair. Wish I’d been organised enough to suggest to someone (anyone!) that they got one for him for his birthday. As it is we’re probably going to get the regulation pile of tat I’d imagine. Oh well. Tim is currently trying to persuade him that sleep is a good idea when you are tired – I took him up about 40 minutes ago, but got tired of being headbutted. Big isn’t the only one with a short straw atm.
Right, I’ve spent the day gathering bits of stuff I need to do paperwork, and I said somewhere else that I wouldn’t be back til I’d done it. I’d like to go back, so I’d better get on. I *hate* paperwork, did I already mention that?

Maybe see you later then? Sounds like a good day tho, although group was fun and it would have been nice to see you – does sound like you make the right choice for you. Must catch up in person later on in the week.
Have done the website doodah’s we discussed on the phone!
Hurrah on packing the tent. Liked the perspective on washing. The washing machine has been on since Monday morning non-stop and I haven’t even been camping. The basket is already full again, so I am going to attempt a paradigm shift in my thinking 🙂
Aw,we went to Chesterfield today, for the first time in it’s new location! Sorry to miss you,it was nice………
I like the idea of washing as a process – or maybe a life cycle – wash, dry, iron, wear, wash, dry…..
Good to hear the tent is dry and away too, we went (still go) camping every August bank holiday with a big bunch of people and it often seemed to rain – I remember a few times having 10 or so of peoples tents drying in my parents’ garden – sometimes thought we’d never get them down and dry!
lol, I put washing out in the evening and sometimes even in the rain 😉 Like the cycle process analogy although mine doesn’t include ironing!
And totally with you on HE being fab for getting to do what you like the look of – me and Ali were discussing what bits of educating our children *we* were most looking forward to learning 😉
washing is definitely an ongoing process not a job to be finished, but I still prefer to allocate mine a slot in the week to get done, otherwise it’s a process that I *hate* which manages to take over my life …
so did you get your paperwork done? I hate that too …
hanging washing out at night is fine, night air freshens it! and yes, washing is a process not a task, you just keep ticking along with it. I tried the get it all finished angle, ended up with piles of clean washing and nowhere to put it away, seems I need the washing basket/washing line as storage ;o) WEll done for getting the tent away, Tim had ours draped over the junk in the garage for days after our “summer” holiday, couldn’t pitch it in the garden….
Well done for doing your tent. Our two tents are hopefully going up today so we can clean and dry them as forecast is dry for next copule of days (oh why could it not have been ,like that at HESFES???).
Laundry…my laundry basket is like Mary Poppins’ carpet bag…bottomless!!
I thought the dew covered everything if the washing was out overnight and left smutty marks. Seems to on mine anyways 😉
Oh, please, please can we get the pushchair then. I’ve been struggling for inspiration as we haven’t sorted that yet. Was on the ‘to do’ list for tomorrow. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute, eh?
That sounds like a plan to me, assuming you can find a nice cheapo one at this kind of notice!
