Stream of consciousness

Mummy, why does the camera need a bulb in?

It’s not a bulb, it’s a film.

What’s the film for?

That’s how it makes pictures.

How does it do that?

Er….

Does your camera have a film in?

No, it’s a digital camera.

What does digital mean?

That’s the format it stores the pictures in.

What does format mean?

I forget what I said after that, but I do remember that my head was hurting. Other questions included “why is it called a REmote control?” (we’ve only just got her to stop calling it a ‘mote control). “what’s a nickername” (addressed to Tim, you’ll have to ask him what the answer was).

I *must* carry a notebook one day and write down all the questions. And to think I used to worry that she didn’t ask questions, because she didn’t, when she first came out of nursery. She must have been denurserying, and I think that process is well and truly over.

Oh, and she did more maths yesterday afternoon, by request, and read another Bob book with Tim today, also by request. Child led it is then. 🙂 There was also a minor incident yesterday over a map, but we’ll gloss over that one.

Small has discovered mouths to go along with noses, and is branching out into ears. He also likes ’round and round the garden’ and ‘this little piggy’. He likes gluing and sticking and artwork as well.

Edit to add – oh yes. Interview – forgot about that. Lasted over two hours, was very pleasant chat, would be interesting place to work, not sure I’m quite what they are looking for with breadth of experience, but I’d be surprised if they are going to get better. They’ve more ppl to see before they decide on a shortlist, so I probably won’t hear until the end of the week as to whether I’ve to go back for a second interview.

    Fingers crossed for you Jax!

  6. Funny how you can gloss on a good day – another day the map thing would have been the ultimate disaster! I must admit to having mixed feelings on the interview front. I do hope it works out for you but am also aware that it will mean seeing less of you. 🙁

  7. LOL Quick! Follow that Child! The cry of hurty-headed child-led home educators everywhere.
Thank you so much for restoring my blog equilibrium, I can see them all again and will now spend a happy hour ignoring my child while I attempt to catch up on what I’ve missed.
And good luck with all this interview and work malarkey!

  8. That would be a great blog title – follow that child… 🙂 Or hurty-headed home educator, whichever 😉
    Enjoy the blogs.

  9. what does hurty-headed mean?

  10. pmsl @ Sarah 🙂
I have severe hurty head today. I have been asked more questions by small people in the last 12 hours than in all the job interviews I’ve ever attended…

  11. LOL! Lyddie asked me what water is made out of the other day, just as we were packing our shopping at Asda. I referred her to the checkout girl for an answer. She got one, too: “Um, wet stuff I think.”
