as Big slept in til 8.30 and the rest of us til just after 9. Wow. Small had woken me a little earlier (by trying to sleep in the same location as my rib cage) but it wasn’t too bad as these things go.
They did some drawing, and playing, and ate huge amounts of breakfast and we were all just mooching around when I spotted my mother’s car reversing up the drive so belted upstairs to get dressed. Asked Tim to open the door and hoped he might cover for me – no such luck, I could hear him explaining that I’d gone to get dressed as I was doing so. Oops.
Anyway, she asked how we all were, and what we’d been getting up to, and how the teaching at home was going, so Big got out her clock, her MMM things, chatted about remembrance day, showed off her Jolly Phonics, and generally did me proud. They took the rainbow skein of wool and made it into a ball (I’ve got pictures, I’ll try to find the cable in a bit) and mother started trying to teach Big to knit.

Small throughout all this kept bringing things to pile on Grandma’s knee – no idea what that is about, but I think it means he likes her.
We had lunch together and a very pleasant time all round. Grandma thinks she might give us some money towards my wish list of home ed resources, so that would mean I could indulge in Draw Write Now and maybe a magazine for Big as well…depends on how much we get.
Then Grandma had to go to pack to go on holiday, so we finally finished getting the children dressed, read several library books (I particularly like Falling Angels so was quite pleased that I got to read that one three times 😉 and then we went off to the coop. Now Big is watching Nick Jr, potatoes are in the oven, and Small is getting all the crayons out again…

Hold this thought my darling – you are a good mother with lovely children…. when it works you need to frame it ;~) I promise promise promise – that we got gradually more and more of these days as Fran approached 5 and it just kept on getting better from there.
*puts up the yellow flag* – for peace and tranguility. Good day.
Sounds like a better day all round – well done!! Have several gold stars!!
Well, Big obviously thinks it’s working, however it feels to you! Hope your mum was suitably impressed
Hurrah! (and what is it with the synchronicity thing then?) 🙂 Glad you had a good one too!
Is that book a candidate for a unit study then? Glad you had a good day, especially impressing Mother, which surely must always help!
That book looks pretty good actually – have noted it down as one to buy if I ever see it anywhere for a bargain price!
Book is definitely a candidate – I was thinking about topic work as I was reading it the third time yesterday…
What about doing a MMM lapbook Jax that may attract Big. By the way I meant to type tranquility not tranguility LOL (you just can’t get the secretarial staff LOL.
Nice to see what your mum looks like, having heard so much about her!
