Start of a new era?

We’ve rearranged the bedrooms upstairs, so that now Tim is in the little room, and the children have their beds in the other room. Wasn’t overly successful putting Small to bed in there, he wanted to lie down and so on but every time I tried to leave him he got up again. So eventually he went to sleep in his cot, and once he was asleep, I transferred him back to the bed.

He woke up in the middle of the night – I went up to find a small boy and a monkey crouched on the landing 😉 – and we did the whole want a drink, want twinkle twinkle rigmarole, but he did put himself back to bed in the new bedroom, and then slept through til nearly 9 o’clock this morning. I found going to bed without him there very odd, but it didn’t keep me awake for long 😀

So, yesterday.

A gathering of friends, partly because it’s going to be rather difficult to do this in future 🙁 So Sarah, Barbara, Kirsty and their respective offspring all came round. Mostly the children played outside, and mostly they played pretty well, giving us adults chance to sit around together, drink tea and chat. And I got quite a bit more of the hoodie done. Want to take a piccie of it in progress – actually, haven’t taken or blogged any piccies for ages, so might get around to that today.

Oh, and to find out what I’m making it out of, we did a strand test. Most satisfying. Tested two unknown yarns, one that I thought was probably acrylic, and one that I hoped was wool, and a known marked as cotton. They had markedly different patterns of burning, each quite clearly different substances, and the children were thrilled that I was setting fire to things – let’s call that science shall we 😉

Got lots of stuff to do today now, so don’t expect multiple blogs through the day today 😉

  1. Oh how well I know that ‘I don’t have a baby any more’ feeling. I of course am enjoying it, but I could see how it would be tinged with melancholy.
Tea, chats and playing sounds good – off to Ali’s to do a bit of that myself 🙂

  2. It was fab, thanks for a lovely time. Sorry I wasn’t better company. I’m thinking that maybe Dino simply reflects my mood?

  3. oh, a slightly bigger Small then…. I’m just trying to get my head around you moving everything out of Tim’s room into what was Alison’s and am feeling rather awed at your acheivements!

  4. I have a large stack of blue archive boxes reaching nearly to the ceiling. 🙂
