Socialisation rules OK

Started the day by embarassingly falling asleep again as the children tootled off downstairs. Oops. Eventually woke up and came down and fed them – Big can do breakfast for them, and usually does while I’m getting my cup of tea, but she can’t put Small in his high chair for him to actually eat it!

So a slow start to the day, and then Barbara rang to invite us over. Got us all dressed and ready in record time, and was still beaten there by Sarah with her two. Ah well. Big was desperate to play school with Barbara’s E (her best friend, apparently 😉 ) and they disappeared upstairs, only reappearing to eat lunch. Unfortunately they didn’t want the boys *or* littlies to play, so Dino, B, Small and Mimi had to settle for downstairs with pattern blocks, train tracks, cars and the video. They were heartbroken 😉

We adults managed the occasional conversation in between the even more occasional bout of referee-ing – all in all it was a good day. Big did have a complete meltdown at home time – despite two warnings that it was time to get ready to go, the information that it was actually time was not received well, although I was impressed that she managed to pull back and apologise for screaming at Barbara (who had the misfortune to say it was time to go…). Oh well. She also showed off her Jolly Phonics book – turned out she finished off the t page this morning while waiting for me to get up! So this is definitely child led then…

Small managed two naps in the car today, so he was very late to bed. Those who are squeamish should look away now – he is developing a slight cough and cold, and now I have another reason to say that I would never consider the whole nipple piercing thing – just imagine the cough/sneeze while feeding? Ouch. Actually, ouch doesn’t begin to cover it. 🙁

Anyway, managed to get one thing off my task list done tonight, so I’m going to have my hot chocolate and go to bed now.
