Sigg drinks bottle review.

I was recently fortunate enough to be chosen to review Sigg drinks bottles as sold by Purekit. I confess until the bottle arrived I didn’t quite know what all the fuss about Sigg was for – surely a drinks bottle is just a drinks bottle?

Just how wrong can you be? I like to avoid creating extra rubbish by using re-usables in all areas of life – so we’ve got our drinks bottles, the baby is in cloth nappies, we use cloth shopping bags and so on. I’ve had a metal drinks bottle for a while, and it’s nothing to get excited about, just a plain metal bottle.

The Sigg bottle is in a different league. I was sent the 1L, in blue, and the first impression is that it is really quite gorgeous to look at. From the purekit site:

Extremely lightweight, hygienically coated inside with a taste neutral and fruit acid resistant covering, this bottle is a great addition to any camping expedition.

I’d have to agree with the lightweight aspect. Obviously in just a week I haven’t hugely tested the fruit acid resistant bit, but then again, I tend to use this type of container just for water. I certainly couldn’t taste any contamination in that, it just tastes like water. It also seems pretty rugged, though again, only time will really tell on that one.

I have to say, though, that I’m rather sold on the brand. And I’ll be keeping an eye out for more in this line as I come to replace the cheapies that the kids currently have. All in all, this is a great product.

Disclosure – I was sent this item free of charge to review.

  1. Are those the ones the beans have?
We sell a metal brand that don’t have any of the reported issues of using cheapy versions or disposable ones. I love them and we sell loads but my girls like to be able to see their water (rolls eyes).

  2. Weird – at that very moment, someone bought one!

  3. Have to say I don’t notice anything particularly better about our Sigg bottle than about our cheaper ones. Had to buy a new lid for it as the sports bottle type lid got really quite yucky after a while (so that’s one good feature – replacement lids are easy to get hold of!). Ours are all very bashed about – my 1l Gelert bottle got shut in the car door! – but are still going strong 🙂
