Yesterday we went out looking for the bits we need for next weeks not-wedding party. (It isn’t really going to be possible to tell it’s not a wedding, I suspect, Big is going as a bridesmaid, Small will be wearing a
This is slightly problematic for any number of reasons. The biggest being that I’m not big on dresses, but I am indeed increasing in size atm. I appear to have put on the best part of a stone since my lightest weight last year, which is a little intimidating, but I suppose some of it will just be natural gain as I’m no longer running around like the proverbial at school all day. And then the other bits will be to support the larger bust size I suddenly have, and the filling out of the kangaroo like pouch I’ve got stuck on my front. I’m guessing I’m at that early stage where ppl look at you pityingly and just think you are letting yourself go, rather than having any obvious actual pregnancy signs.
I am diverging somewhat from the topic, as you may have noticed. So I needed a dress. We went to Bury St Edmunds, which we thought, especially with it having a new shopping centre, would be admirably equipped to answer all our needs.
We were wrong.
Marks and Spencers supplied school type grey trousers for Small, but don’t hold shirts in stock, a member of staff thought they might have them in the autograph range which you can order from online for store delivery, but unless I’m losing my website searching skills, she’s wrong. Debenhams had lovely shirts but they came complete with the waistcoat and cravat thing, and sister already has those bits. Dresses were even more problematic. I was looking for something summery, with an elasticated back and high waist, and nowhere seemed to have quite what I wanted.
Bother. We stopped for a drink (mm, hot chocolate in Greggs) and then went down the very last street. And just as we were thinking we needed to head back to the car, we saw a lovely little boutique by the name of tigertail, which had the perfect dress in the window.
So we bought it, and that means all we need now are the shirt and some cheap shoes for Small (don’t really want him wearing red trainers with his wedding outfit!) and maybe a shrug to go over my dress and probably some sandals. The dress is chocolate, with a green and ivory trim, so I’m assuming black sandals will not be deemed acceptable.
And that’s not all we’ve been up to over the past couple of days, but I think this post is long enough now 🙂
