Theatre trip with the little ones today, to meet up with several other home educating families and see Peut-Etre Theatre Shh… BANG!
Really enjoyable show, actors so expressive and the use of movement and sound was incredibly imaginative. Great to see a roomful of happy engaged small children (and, for that matter) their parents. Interesting use of the space, a small number of props but mainly the actors’ bodies, both in how they danced, stomped and moved around, and in how they used each other to make noises.
Tigerboy wasn’t as enraptured as his last theatre trip, but Smallest was completely enthralled – she sat down on cushions at the front *without* me (anyone who knows her will know this is a huge step). And at the end she got up and went on stage for the last part, and then gathered feathers to bring home (with permission) and asked for the soundtrack CD.
Am kind of hoping that it will help her a little more in finding the rhythm that she doesn’t seem to be able to hear in music.
I’m also impressed that the little (free) leaflet program has activities in it (experiments, colouring, a word search), and even a poem by Kafka. I’ll read that to Smallest later – she’s the first of my children to enjoy poetry at all, and I’m really enjoying being able to explore it with her. This is a little different to the Flower Fairies we’re majoring on though, so I’m not sure how well it will go down 😉
Must remind her to finish her loud and quiet competition entry and email it in!
On the way back to the car we spotted flowers and plants in the not quite Spring yet sunshine, and then listened to the soundtrack recording on the way home. A really lovely outing.
I’ll be signing up to Peut-Etre Theatre mailing list, and if they come near you, I highly recommend the show.
