for the offspring!
Bizarrely, my concept of retail therapy is to see how *little* I can spend, and I did pretty well on that again this weekend, shopping mainly at Aldi, and getting some stuff for next week as well. (Have just realised that we are planned to be away next weekend, bit of a pain that I’d lost track as I was intending to library and lembas then, may be running out of nappies otherwise 🙁 )
But the children both seem a bit fragile atm, (I am *not* going to comment on Steve Biddulph’s latest piece except to say, I know, you don’t need to rub it in. (And let’s face it, he isn’t actually doing this for the good of society, or his new book would be free, or at the very least at cost, wouldn’t it?)) which will probably be partly down to the fact that neither of them is sleeping well due to lingering coughs.
Big, as mentioned previously, wanted to enter the Blue Peter competition that closes tomorrow. Due to a mix up this morning (I thought she’d decided against, turns out she had actually decided to do a completely different picture and not show me the new one) we didn’t get her entry into the post. Bad mother moment 🙁 So on my trip to Morrisons this afternoon to pay in cheques and pick up Victory Vs for Tim, I scanned the children’s mags for one with many competitions, and came back with one for W.I.T.C.H which has a big banner on the front declaring 83 prizes up for grabs. I’m going to get her a pile of second class stamps, a small writing pad and a bunch of cheap envelopes, and she can enter competitions to her hearts content 🙂 Would be nice if she actually won one, but that is likely to be just another learning experience for her I suspect.
Got Roly Mo magazine for Small, which came with a bunch of crayons, stickers and so on (aside, why do they put stickers in those stupid boxes which are next to impossible to get stickers out of???) so he’s happily scribbling and sticking as well.
Hm, does bribery count as a good mummy moment? Somehow I think not 😉 😀
Anyway, I’ve more or less completed my household tasks for the day, although I was unable to find plant pots for my trees (Kris, help! what do I need? Are they going to be dead by now anyway? Sob.) and I’ve yet to hang out the washing that Small helpfully washed again for me, even though I warned Tim that he’d started to do that. Hohum.
And then I need to figure out what to do for tea….never over is it?

I can always be bribed.
Your day sounds like mine; fragile children included 😕
not dead yet Jax, but you have fortnight max for them to be reasonably safe, longer is tanking a risk. we just put in the first of our 10 – aarrghh. lots of digging to do.
thanks for your kind words btw.
just get a cheap big pot from wherever – plastic best as liftable!and put them in. a big bucket will be OK as long as you drill some drainage holes in the bottom
Oh, and we’re having baked potatoes for tea, if that’s any help?!
I have 3 largish pots in the car for you!
I know what you mean about getting around to planting things. I have to plant an apple tree, that a very kind friend gave me for xmas, as it’s still sat in a pot on my lawn 🙄
oh, and does that mean you are stopping at ours??
You may well be surprised about the comps, Jax. Mine rarely enter them but when they do they’re usually quite lucky. As an ex-comper myself I’d recommend decorating the envelope or using a distinctive postcard, you then have a greater chance of winning. We won a trip for 4 to the US once.
