I’ve been very lucky with competitions recently. There are 8 books in this pile that are prizes. Or possibly 9. There should be another one from Quercus but Small ran off with it for our train trip last weekend 🙂

I can’t decide what to read first. I’ve read Shoeless Joe, but it was a long time ago. I’m very tempted to read it again. And Rag and Bones looks awesome. As does the Michael Morpurgo. I loved Invention of wings – I’m not sure why I seem to have two copies though. They’re both ARCs, must ask if the publisher would be happy for me to give one away, we haven’t had a competition on here for a few days 😉

I have done some reading this week. I took Tigerboy to the library and read him six or eight picture books. I should have taken a picture of that pile too! He particularly enjoyed Baby Jake plays peekaboo, which had sturdy enough flaps that he couldn’t detach them.

At home we’ve been reading a couple of new picture books but they’re in the living room and I’m in the warm bedroom so I’ll have to review those another day.

What have you been reading this week? And what’s on your tbr pile?

  1. Rachel has recently discovered the Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins (who wrote the Hunger Games). We got the first three from the library and the last two are on order…both older girls and I have enjoyed what we have read so far, I think Daniel probably still a bit young. I just wish I had the stamina for stories I used to have when I was younger…seem to fall asleep after a couple of pages these days, which doesn’t make for rapid progress….

    1. That’s a good recommendation, thanks

I thoroughly enjoyed ‘A dark heroine’ and while reading often thought ‘this is addictive but does read a little like something I would have written at GCSE’ then realised the writer was 15 and was even more impressed; it’s YA with a very YA voice but honestly so good

    1. Ooh, thanks, I’ll grab that next then!
