Read 52: Summer reads

I’ve got a stack of books on my tbr pile. I’ve been really lucky with competitions recently – Just got the Ex series from DelReyUK and they look quite fun (super heroes, zombies, what’s not to love? Oh yeah, zombies. Hm.) This week I’ve been really fortunate to be approved on netgalley for a couple of great YA books – I’ve already reviewed Acid, my thoughts on Earth Star coming as soon as I work out when I’m allowed to publish them.

Ex heroes, ex-patriots, ex-communication

I’ve got Gone and Hunger out of the library, The Deaths is the next and final panmacmillan book for the bookgroup panel and there’s a batch of other stuff about.

I’ve got The Silent Wife, The 10 pm question, and a couple of others I can’t remember already underway – I’m considering having a book a room :/

Small has been reading – he’s just reviewed the Abominators series and Happyland. (I really recommend his reviews. Seriously. You won’t regret it.

Big is writing up her own recommendations post, you can find it here on Just Being Me.

Smallest needs a library trip. She’s loving lots of slightly more challenging picture books, and while she’s not quite picking out the words from Bob Books reliably yet, she’s accidentally read a few things without realising it. Need some more first reader type books strewing around 😉

Tigerboy still loves activity type books. Ones with touchy feely bits, mirrors, or things you can do. I’m thinking lots more That’s not my books need to be borrowed. (Ashamed admission – he doesn’t actually have his own library card yet. Must deal with that.)

What’s on your shelf these days? Got a beach read to recommend? Or even better, tell me something to avoid – go on, dish the dirt…

congratulations btw to Susannah, the winner of last week’s giveaway of Unbored. I hope you enjoy it.

  1. aw, I loved the That’s Not My books, many happy hours were had with those! (think Aprilia liked them too 😉 )
I’m currently between books but it’s my birthday in a month and I’ve dropped some very un-subtle hints about my requirements….. I can always hope!

  2. Thanks for the linky! Little Man loves his ‘That’s Not My..’ books, too, and I’m happy to report he does have his own library card now! 😉
