Kirsty and co up and offed before lunchtime today – with James having work commitments he wanted at least some afternoon at home. The kids had done really well together, Small particulary enjoyed boy playtime I think 🙂 A and Big do hit it off too though, loved the times when they were running around dressed in shrugs being “the girls” 🙂 Big had a go at teaching A draughts – no idea how successful that was, although Big was not at her patient best so wouldn’t have thought that A will have stood much chance tbh.
Once they’d gone, my two settled in for an afternoon of game playing. Cranium Cadoo came out of the garage some time over the weekend, and had been played with at least A at some point too, but this afternoon it came into its own and they played for about two hours. Small likes it as he wins quite often, I’m not sure why, but he does. They also tried Make ‘n’ Break
but that didn’t last long.
After the gaming, which was remarkably harmonious, Small moved on to looking at his Science School book, which kept him occupied for easily another hour or two, drawing magnet mazes and planning for a variety of other experiments he has in mind.
Big instead watched the tennis with me, while Tim had a siesta. Tim woke in time for the fifth set which we all watched together, apart from the very last game, where Tim had gone to start the children’s tea.
So a quiet day all round, much needed after the excitement of guests for the weekend. And tomorrow back to normal. Or as normal as it gets round here.
