Big read another book this morning. They are from a beginners reader pack that I picked up for a pound in the Works ages ago. I think “Winnie played catch” yesterday, and it was “one more ball” this morning.
She did some more drawing, as did Small, and she spent a lot of time in her room after I sent her up there to cool down for five minutes for dragging him round the room like a teddy bear. Difficult line this, as he loves to play rough, but she doesn’t always seem to know where to stop.
I sorted out the tax credit ppl – draw a line there as I can feel my blood pressure rising again, then we belted off to meet up with Sarah, Kirsty, Barbara and Jayne, and meet Kris for the first time, which was nice. Sal joined us a little later (it’s a long drive) so there was quite a good sized group of children there today.
We did the paper aeroplane activity again, and it couldn’t have been more different. Sarah and I set up a table with aeroplanes and crayons, and Small and Mimi came and sat down to colour! I should be shot for not carrying a camera sometimes….once they got stuck in the other kids came across and eventually I think pretty much everyone had a go. We even tied in nature talks when we discussed the helicopters being like seeds… 😉
Barbara finished the meeting with a story – think Small was one of the first to sit down for that as well. And as the children got to run around like loons, I think it went extraordinarily well. Looking forward to developing it further.
Tonight has not been so successful. Big did a tiny bit more JP, but mainly was horrid and ended up missing her bath. Small was even worse, and didn’t go down til nearly 11, leaving me in no mood to do coding. So I’m quitting for the night and hoping I can get something done in the morning.

Aww,yes! I *wish* we had had a camera too. It went well, didn’t it?
Sounds like a great day with the group being a real highlight! We are going along to the newly reformed local group on Thursday which I am hoping to play a role in and quite looking forward to.
And well done to Big for the good stuff too – the reading is excellent! Davies is not there yet but I can begin to see the process forming and a light going on somewhere!
You also forgot to mention quite how much you helped me yesterday, which may have been a small part of your day but added quite a lot to mine:-)
Wow Jax Big is really reading!! It must be really satisfying for you as I know you are a big reader and hopefully Big will get just as much a love for books as you do.
yep, the reading sounds great! We’ve been making aeroplanes and spinners and parachutes here too this morning … I’m glad your group is going so well, it sounds fantastic.
