pulling myself together

and waffling the day away.

I haven’t achieved an awful lot today, but at least I haven’t cried in a corner. Yet. (There is indeed still time.)

So quickly on to the positives. I downloaded The Game for the children – Small is beyond thrilled to be able to play his game on his computer, so thanks for that Em and Matt, it was a fantastic session, and I think it’s probably not only my kids who are going to remember it for a long time.

I dealt with three letters that needed sending to various companies – particularly enjoying the complaint to they-who-shall-not-be-named (or at least, not until they refund me the charge they made and apologise for their massive incompetence.

I somehow didn’t ground Small for life for dirtying his trousers and not telling me – it’s the not telling someone immediately bit that really irritates. I can cope (just about) with children having accidents, it’s the compounding it until the room smells that winds me up. We had a long conversation with Small yesterday about (not) telling lies, and I’m really not sure that it’s sunk in yet. He doesn’t seem to get why it makes us upset – yesterday he was insisting that he hadn’t done anything to Big, and that she was saying that he had to get him into trouble when we knew that he’d been squeezing her arm to make her shout. I’d had to speak to him about not squeezing arms as he’d hurt me earlier so I guess he thought that admitting he’d done it to someone else would be bad, which leaves you between a rock and a hard place trying to explain that you don’t want the arm squeezing but you really don’t want the lying and accusing other ppl of it either!

Hohum.

What else?

Oh yes, I rerinsed the laundry that didn’t get hung out yesterday, along with the stuff that didn’t dry in the bathroom and hung both loads outside. I dealt with the dry stuff, and then got cross when both the children just crumpled it up and threw it around the room (see earlier post). I’m hoping that we have enough clothes to get us through a couple of days at least – think I’m going to be doing laundry of an evening this week. It’s that awkward time of year when it isn’t stable enough or warm enough to dry clothes outside, but not cold enough for the heating to be on inside to dry them there either. We’ve even had to resort to the tumble dryer once or twice, which I hate doing.

And I got round to relisting some books on Amazon – you can see them here: selling at amazon. Feel free to let me know if you’d like any of them and we can deal direct if you know me well enough to trust me 🙂

I’m fed up of laundry all over the shop, too. I never, ever have a cleared kitchen:O( I seem to be the only one who hangs washing out to dry around here…neighbours seem to be the tumbly dryer types:O((
    Hope you’re feeling better:O))

There are some areas that have byelaws preventing you from hanging your washing out in public.
And Cynthia Voigt! My, I loved those stories about Dicey and her family! Fiction gets a lot more interesting at about age 11. I’d forgotten about them.

  3. nasty idea, not being allowed to hang washing out!
So, do you need a copy of Homecoming? Not sure that I’d say it needs to be left til 11 tbh, although as they get older maybe I’d leave them later. I love her as an author, got loads of her stuff.
