outings and Brownies, Physio and hair cut.

On Tues I’d bumped into local HE-er C, who told me of a non home ed support group meeting the following day. Accordingly I spent most of Weds morning either debating curriculum and planning with Big or trying to persuade the children to get ready to leave the house. We got out eventually and were about 20 minutes late, but as the group is based in a playgroup setting and has lots of toys on offer, both the kids had a fantastic time, and I think we’ll prob manage to be on time next time 😉

Home, and they watched XMen 2, until it was time for Brownies. Took Big over for her ritual running and screaming session (not quite sure what else they do, but they all seem to like the running and screaming) and whipped up tea while she was out, and Tim went out to socialise with his brother. And that was the day pretty much, not terribly exciting.

Thurs I had my physio session. I’d asked Tim to drive as I was afraid I wouldn’t be up to driving myself back afterwards, which was probably sensible, but meant that the children got a chance to be selfish and unpleasant not wanting to come out with me. Confess that I was less than understanding of this attitude, and told them that they were being selfish and I was very disappointed with them 🙁

Physio was excellent. A one hour appt, that took full history, did full physical exam, some manipulation to correct tilt of sacrum, pelvis and spine (which were all going in different directions, combining to put pressure on nerves running into left leg, explaining the pain in that area) and then discussion of exercises to do to strengthen the area. I was also given a heel lift as apparently the difference in the lengths of my legs is much higher than normal (everyone’s legs are uneven, mine are far more so than most) and that will not have been helping.

I remember being told this when having physio during pregnancy with Small, but not being given anything to correct it. So that’s another 7 years or so of intermittent problems with my hips that could conceivably have been headed off. Sigh.

Tim and the kids went to a garden centre in the meantime, then we came home and I retired for a lie down as I was aching quite badly, and slept for two hours! Woke up feeling much better than I have been doing – still have ache in left hip, but it doesn’t feel quite as draining somehow, perhaps because everything has been straightened up a bit?

So a quiet afternoon and evening, then Tim and I cooked communally, which was quite pleasant, and eventually chased the children into bed – where Big read Small’s last quest seekers book to him, so he has finished the challenge after all 😉 and we watched terrible tv and eventually keeled over ourselves.

  1. Very glad to hear the physio was helpful and that you got the heel lift, can take ages to get the most obvious help sometimes.

  2. Glad the physio has helped a bit. I think I will be heading down that route myself soon as my pelvis aches already far early than it did when I was expecting Ellie. I’ve already got more of a shuffle than a walk and am only half way through. How long have you got left?
