Not really a celebration

this weekend has reminded me of half terms long gone by. I used to stagger through school terms, get to a holiday and collapse in a germ ridden heap – seems like I’ve done precisely the same this weekend.

Ah well, sleeping is good for you isn’t it? And maybe being off my food will kick start my weight loss. Hey, I can hope! 😉 And no, I’m not completely obsessed with losing weight, although it could well read that way, it’s just I’ve never felt the need to consider it before. Any time that I’ve felt a bit podgy, I’ve just cut out chocolate or added in a karate practise and all has sorted itself out. This time though, I can’t figure out how to fit in the exercise I know I need – I’m turning into such a couch potato (or more accurately computer and car slob 🙁 ) with very little time free to fit in an exercise regime. I know that I need to, but I just don’t quite see how.

Anyway, ruminations on that at endless length over the next few weeks I daresay, so I’ll move on.

I made a bit more of an inroad into the pile by the bed today – little and often has got to be the motto with decluttering round here. Actually a lot and often would be more useful, but I guess I’ll have to work up to that 😉 Knowing that we’ve house guests in a couple of weekends is spurring me on, but not hugely, given I keep wanting to fall asleep.

Failed dismally in being a good family member this weekend – it was my sister and niece’s birthday yesterday and I couldn’t even find her phone number to ring them up 🙁 Another sister texted it to me, but by then I’d fallen asleep again, well it was half past 3 (in the afternoon 😳 ) Like I said, I’ve done a lot of sleeping.

Big was watching The Sound Of Music this afternoon (she hasn’t found the singalong option yet 😉 – not surprising as even looking for it we can’t find it! Wondering whether that’s a feature of using the media pc 🙁 ). She was amazed to hear that it’s a true story – I’ve got the book kicking around somewhere. I actually find it more difficult to remember the film version tbh. Daresay we’ll revisit all of that a bit more in days to come.

Kids are in the bath now, I feel like I ought to be doing something but I’m not quite sure what. Think I might see if I can find the yarn for Big’s cardy and get started on that 🙂

Jax, we can park ourselves anywhere. Hugs for feeling tired and washed out. Just concentrate on you and your inner circle of family. the rest can manage.
I have tagged yu though if you have time for a quick meme

  2. I’m not decluttering for you specifically, it’s more it’s good to have a target 😉 Will meme just now.

  3. I did get a bit of napping in over the break. I barely remember Christmas break the last year of college because I slept most of it.

  4. I don’t have experience of WindowsMCE, but I do find the whole DVD thing on computers a bit flakey with regard to the menus, so it wouldn’t surprise me. sometimes standalon devices ahve lot going for them.

  5. Windows MCE is not much more than an interface to the media/entertainment features in XP Pro. It has some limitations. One is that it does not support UK Teletext or the BBC interactive stuff. Subtitles also seem to be a problem too.
With DVDs the solution in our case is to use WinDVD which supports subtitles and appears to have no trouble with the special features on DVDs.
I like Windows MCE, I think it is a pretty good effort, but they have a way to go with it.

  6. Just to add, if I had a machine with a TV card which hadn’t come with MCE installed then I would try out GB PVR.

  7. Okay, so…. where’s the pic of the now completed shawl then???? Dying to see it!
