Not quite a resolution…more of a challenge!

but I want to spend more time crafting and creating. I want to challenge myself creatively. I want to design items and make them, write patterns and share them, learn new techniques and broaden my horizons.

And I’ve chosen a starting point. The technique is icord as shown in this video

and the project is this gorgeous bracelet. I’m fairly sure it’s an easy project, and while the yarn is discontinued I have some recycled silk sari yarn that I think might work. (Expect me back here in a few hours whinging that it won’t…)

So, anyone with me? Anyone else want to stretch their wings creatively?

        It’s one of those,… If I don’t have it my mum will . Her SELE currently requires her to last to past 150…

      Ooh, lovely. I like Tunisian crochet (so fast!), but I always ended up with a sloping edge to it, think I was getting something a bit wrong…

    Off to Texere yarn place tomorrow Jax dm me if you need something getting followed by The Shuttle for fabrics. I am back into my creativity big time making lovely fabrics into one off design object beanbags (other soft furnishings to come I plan) and have some lovely crystal chakra sets as well

    The finished bracelet (via the link) looks great – I hope yours comes out like that. Some time in 2012 I will begin crochetting tens of skull-caps for the guests at my nephew’s Bar Mitzva in 2013. That will be enough for me but I will blog about it.

      Sounds like it would be enough for just about anyone! Is that a tradition then, that they be handmade within the family?

        If someone in the family can do it then they sometimes make for the immediate family. As I am so far away most of the time I like to do something extra – and no one else in my family can do this. Also, I’ve found a way to make them very quickly by using a 1mm needle instead of .75, two yarns crochetted together (giving an interesting colour effect – especially if you change colours one yarn at a time) and no intricated pattern – just swirls of colour according to a colour theme. Woops there’s my blog post 🙂

    Finally, a knitting project I might finish.
    November, knitted poppy – to sew together.
    December, socks – not even to the heel flap. A mini ankle warmer maybe?!

    Oooh you know me and getting crafty! Nothing like challenging yourself creatively (last year I learnt to sew and crochet)… I guess my challenge would be to up the ante a little. Am thinking needle felting next?? Or having a go at paper quilling again!
